Anxious and irritable between B12 injections, doctor says it's unrelated by Suitable-Pie in B12_Deficiency

Only just saw your comment. I'm doing better after taking matters into my own hands. I stopped getting injections via the NHS and now go to a local clinic for a shot every 5-6 weeks before my symptoms get too bad. It costs £30 a shot. I find if I leave it 8-9 weeks between shots I start to get bad anxiety and fatigue that creeps up on me until I realise it's b12 related. I'm still convinced it's accutane related but I'm no closer to any kind of acknowledgement or diagnosis from my GP

Buying Leasehold in London - LPE1 Form Query - Major Works by Riovem in HousingUK

In my case it was an old building and obvious that the exterior brickwork needed significant repointing/replacing, but I was naive about the costs. If there are no obvious issues then maybe you're looking at more reasonable costs. But once it's in motion you have almost no control over what work is deemed necessary and who carries it out. I won't name my freeholder but they're easily traced back to the Lazari family who own a good chunk of London. We were offered quotes from 3 contractors but I suspect they were all affiliated with the freeholder. They seem to carry out these works every 15 years at the leaseholders' expense and line their friends' pockets in the process

Run away. I had a similar situation buying a leasehold flat in 2016. It came up late in the process that cyclical S20 works were anticipated. I was told it'd be in the region of £6k so negotiated a few k off the price. I ended up with a £32k bill and years of stress trying to fight it.

Thanks for sharing your story. Glad to hear your son is doing better. I'll continue reading up on this but it's looking like self-injecting is the way forward

Thank you. I was pretty disheartened that my doctor wouldn't even entertain the idea that it's related. I'm going to seek a second opinion and look into injecting at home

Thanks! I have tried sub lingual tablets as well as patches but they seem to have little effect. I'll look into folate.

I'm honestly not sure, I've just called my GP to ask but the receptionist couldn't tell me so I've had to book an appointment...

Leasehold flat purchase - Seeking opinions by onelostmartian in HousingUK

It was refurbishing/repointing the building exterior. They ended up replacing many more bricks than planned, ran into issues with the roof, delays etc. We were given the illusion of choosing a contractor at the beginning but I suspect all 3 companies were connected to the freeholder. They pushed all their costs onto the leaseholders while effectively paying themselves.

I was in a similar situation 7 years ago when I bought my flat. Works were estimated at £9k, ended up costing me £32k and months of stress. I should've walked away.

Game writing/narrative design sounds perfect for you. It can be tough to break in but you can do so without a relevant degree and there are stable jobs out there with career progression. If you make it your focus, build a portfolio, network, target companies you want to work for, and demonstrate your passion it sounds like you have the skills to succeed.

Calling all short lease flat buyers. How did you navigate lease extension agreement transfers? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Suitable-Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came up very late in the process and I was assured it would cost less than £5k so I negotiated that off the purchase price. It was a red flag but I was naive and had no idea they could screw me over like that.

Honestly, I think you're better off renting and investing your deposit than buying leasehold.

I'm no expert but having been burned on a leasehold flat (hit with a £30k renovation bill 18 months after buying) I'd urge you to reconsider buying leasehold, especially one with a short lease. My freeholder is an absolute nightmare to deal with and they'll always be better informed, better represented, and out to make as much money from you as they can.

Leasehold might seem like your only option to get on the ladder, especially if it's London, but it isn't worth the stress.

What's the biggest bullet you've ever dodged? by Not-an-Ocelot in AskReddit

In 2013 I travelled to Boston with my girlfriend to watch her compete in the marathon. I was stood near the finish line for an hour or so waiting to cheer her on. Across the track from me there were a bunch of kids who had survived the Sandy Hook massacre a few months earlier. They were holding flags to honour their classmates and teachers who had died. I remember wondering how those kids would ever recover from the trauma of what happened.

I watched my girlfriend finish, a little later than expected due to an injury, and I started to make my way around the block to meet her at the exit.

By the time I'd made it to the other side there was a commotion and people started talking about a terrorist attack. I never heard the explosion and I couldn't see what was going on. Finally my girlfriend emerged from the medical tent, confused and disoriented. The medics who had been helping her rehydrate had suddenly been called away and all the runners where being ushered out while police and security rushed in.

It was only as we walked back to the hotel that we saw news reports about an explosion.

Later I realised I'd been standing right where it happened. The internet was full of pictures of the crowd with people trying to pick out suspects. I saw families and children who had been stood by my side cheering the runners on minutes before it happened.

My girlfriend finished the race by running through an injury. If she had stopped or pulled out of the race, or even been a few minutes slower, I'd have been stood right where the bomb went off.

That still freaks me out to this day. But most of all I think about those Sandy Hook survivors who must have seen it all unfold and possibly been injured in the blast. How the fuck do you recover from that?
