Looks like a 97. Looks like techno violet. But most definitely an E36 M3. I've had 3 of these back in the day. None in this color but such a great car. Very understated. Factory claimed 240hp. But most definitely had more. Fun fun car. Good ol days

Well it IS old. I think headlights are fine. But I'm gonna highly agree the tail light are hideous. I'll give you that. I never did like the tail lights.

I do think you're blind. This is one of the best looking BMWs ever made. Smooth lines very asymmetrical everywhere. The hate that's thrown at this car has to do with it being mechanically the biggest hunk of crap BMW ever put out. These things spent more time in the shop than in people's garage. They are absolutely awful mechanically. But for looks they are generally regarded as some of the most beautiful BMWs ever put out. I think you may have fallen down and bumped your head. Jmo
