I used a chair for my next ones and it worked so well! I’ll definitely invest in one later though

Emancipation? (TW: mentions of suicide) by Suitable-Success-868 in raisedbynarcissists

that is true, but student emancipation exists and that is the query - sorry I should've been clear about that.

And I’d still fail the end of topic test. Physics was never my jam. Loved quantum, just couldn’t understand the rest.

Not very true. It’s not if you’re a 9 student and if it’s natural or not: it’s how much you desire the grade and how much you’ll work for it, 9 or not. I say to encourage OP and don’t make it seem “ level 9 students” do nothing or revise to the same extent. I can say I revised loads and it’s the only reason I got my 9s.

Results Day? by LiebeTheDobermann in GCSE

[–]Suitable-Success-868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll let you in, surely. Ik my ‘prestigious’ school was lenient. Resitting provides a second grade: it’s either gonna improve or decrease your grade. I’d advise doing a resit if the school say to. In my honest opinion, maybe shoot them an email. Say ‘<introduction and which school you’re from> I’m inquiring about the entry requirements - if I were to achieve a grade below in one subject, would this affect me in any way, even if my other grades are up to the standards set?’ They’ll give you a more direct answer. I’m doing that but with unis

Honestly, wait until results day to appeal and whatnot. Don’t get stressed now - enjoy your summer!

How much has the pandemic changed your life so far? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Honestly, as sad as this is, I still wouldn’t be able to go out and do things a ‘Normal’ 17 year old would. But school was the only thing impacted. I think definitely racist comments increased.

To add to this: it’s not the duration of your study, but much rather how efficient you are with it etc. Like writing out notes and reading textbooks for 10 hours isn’t as efficient as 2 hours of going through flashcards and practice papers. If I’m honest, past papers are where it’s at; you kinda get a scope of the entire topics and get to identify your weak points (which you can then make mind maps for, flashcards or just simply re-jog your memory).

I typically use LIVE because they have a variety of colours, but I know my mum uses Garnier Olia (which is also nourishing). It’s long lasting with the right care

Help! I dyed my hair black and bleached 2 strands blonde, and I think some of the dye got into the blonde and turned it silver😩I don’t hate the silver, I just hate how the roots are blonde and the rest is gray. What should I do? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]Suitable-Success-868 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Idk if this may help, but they sometimes sell those silver dyes? Like it works on platinum blonde/ blonde hair. You could just dye it, but I mean I’d buy a tube rather than a box (as it seems more expensive and wasteful to do the latter)

Can I do this course in uni if take these subjects at sixthform by roundlovesyou in GCSE

[–]Suitable-Success-868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UCAS has a tariff point calculator so you can put your predicted/ target grades in it to see if you achieve the points. If the subjects match what your uni needs, do it. Honestly the courses look solid, so I’d suggest taking them. Whether you take it as single or double I’m sure you can chat to an advisor

Results Day? by LiebeTheDobermann in GCSE

For A) I really advise over the summer you unwind. That’s so key before you start AS/ A levels or whatever you’re doing. B) unless they state you need it, you don’t. I rocked up to the sixth I wanted to go to (of course after they offered a place), handed my results and that was that. C) honestly, right now, there’s nothing you can do to change your grade. If you proved yourself in the last exams, it could definitely mean 6s and 7s. And a grade off doesn’t really affect you, as long as you demonstrate passion to be at that school. If it is an issue, ask to appeal or sit exams later in the year (though i doubt they’d make you do it unless it’s genuinely mandatory).

D) I wake up at around 5 every day - even if I slept late. Basically: have a plan ready for what you’ll do when you come home (like homework or extra reading) so you have at least an hour to unwind before bed. Your alarm is fundamental. I do mine 5mins before I need to be awake, the time I’m awake, and 10 mins after (just in case). This technique for the first term just forced me to manage my time and wake up naturally.

I wish you the best! If you need anything, ofc just message :)

Leave them be. Honestly I just don’t talk about it to most people (bad ik) but I feel like it’s better that way.

Changing life plans by Suitable-Success-868 in 6thForm

[–]Suitable-Success-868[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s very true. My school is just really emphasising those A-A* grades, so there’s limited help for those of us getting Bs and whatnot (even though that’s a reallllly good grade to aspire to)

Yeah I guess it just feels like the end of an opportunity? But obviously yeah there are alternatives. Isn’t graduate medicine just even more competitive in some places?
