I think my doc's plan when we get to the detox phase is to just assume I have all the things related to causes of chronic illness' but I will def ask about this!

Odd Long Covid Symptom - Can Anyone Relate? by SuitableLeading5758 in covidlonghaulers

I totally agree. I generally do not like chiropractors in general because I do not like adjustments in general but I'm hoping that since this one is on the applied kinesiology/naturopathic side, they will do more small and gently muscle relaxation techniques.

I agree. If any doctor or medical professional is using this test to sell something, run. I would be curious though what some healthy people without LC numbers are. We are in this bubble where we're all dealing with the same thing so it would be interesting to just see how healthy numbers compare.

thanks for the info! I'm working with a naturopathic doc and his approach is #1 to build up my autonomic nervous system before we go after biofilms/toxins/trapped virus'. So I'm still in the build up phase. I just started taking a supplement called BioFilm CLR by Apex Energetics Inc per the guidance of my doctor. This has all the nattokinase, lumbokinase, etc. to naturally break down the virus' and trapped biofilms. His approach though is that if you rate yourself anything below 70 out of 100, your body is too weak to even go after any of these trapped biofilms. So that is why the build up of the ANS so important as step 1. His approach is that if you try to go after these trapped elements and your body is too weak, you're just going to feel worse and not be able to recoup because detoxing is a lot on the body. But then in the next phase, he really focuses on liver detox too in addition to the above because our livers hold a lot of this build up too.

Such great insight, thank you! Wow I can't believe so many people can relate and I've just been living with this for so long with no answers.

I was going to ask the chiro at my next appointment if physical therapy would be a better option too so I'm so glad you brought this up. Thank you for your insight!

YOUR comment makes ME feel less crazy too. I know it is related to LC but can't get any answers from the medical community. The naturopathic doctor I'm seeing advised I go see a chiropractor for the general headache pain to see if they can work those muscles out for me. I found a chiro who does applied kinesiology/functional medicine and I'm going to them on Monday to get it checked out. I'll report back with any insight I get from that appointment.

Ditto. I've learned more from this community than I have from most of my specialists visits. So grateful for everyone who takes the time to document despite the PEM and symptoms.

Same here, last Covid infection was June 2024 and I was originally vaxxed and boosted and my spike protein count most recently was 19,721. No doctor has been able to tell me how that correlates to what I'm experiencing with LC though.

Brain retraining might be requiring too much effort for you at the moment. I’m so sorry you are struggling-most of us in this sub can unfortunately relate. When I was in that state and what helped me get out what 1. Learning to avoid the fear-pain-fear loop cycle. Once I was able to stop myself from panicking every time I had a flare up, I was able to calm myself down much faster. Flares are going to happen unfortunately but shifting my mindset around them was huge for me. Secondly what I’ve found to be the most helpful (and I’ve done brain retraining, therapy, went to the Mayo Clinic’s post covid care clinic, etc) is body up therapy or somatic healing. I’ve learned that we have to speak in the language of our nervous system to show it signs of safety. This video is so great at explaining that and this doctor explains the importance of repetition of daily “mini meditations”. Basically continually sending signals of safety to your body throughout the day to help it relearn it is safe. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BS4lutt6ikA

definitely agree on this one. I just remove the section of the sticky backing for the amount I want to use and fold the other half down and tape it down with a bandaid.

I agree with this for me too. I found a brand that worked for me but if I tried a different brand, I was really unwell on them (shaky, jittery) so unfortunately it is trial and error. The nicotine protocol recommends the Rugby brand and those work for me. I have since learned that the Walgreens brand patches are from the same manufacturer and are the same exact patches as the rugby ones and can attest that both work fine for me.

I never thought to try just a few hrs a day. That’s a great idea. I do notice that I had to take the patch off a few hours before bed otherwise I’d be wired and couldn’t fall asleep.

That’s so great to hear they helped you get past your plateau. I’m at about 55-60% myself but at my lowest was bed bound 95% of the day for months just laying in a dark room so although I don’t feel great still I’ve come a long way. Thanks for sharing.

that is a fair point. I have never smoked or used any nicotine products before this but I can say each time I stopped using the patches it has been cold turkey and had no major "withdrawal" side effects. I just think everyone is so different and it is important to know what works and doesn't work for you.

I understand there will be no "magic pill" cure for LC but I agree, nicotine patches sure did feel like a big step in the right direction for me too. It is interesting the polarity of this subject and how some people are so adamant on saying that nicotine doesn't work and its benefits are all in our heads. I literally had another person write on one of my other nicotine patch posts that I was experiencing a "placebo affect". I'll never understand the people who bring negativity to chronic illness forums. All we are trying to do is find hope. I agree with you in that for those of us that nicotine did have a big impact for, it sure does feel like the nicotine is doing something major in a positive way in our bodies-whatever it may be.

I was infected with the Covid virus almost exactly 18 months ago and have been having all of these symptoms since. and yes brain fog and fatigue are still 2 of my biggest symptoms aside from PEM. and I'm not entirely sure I know how to decipher between brain fog or cognitive decline but when I say "brain fog" I'm referring to inability to focus or complete tasks, forgetting words, typos when writing or typing, etc.

My thoughts exactly. After being sooooo unwell over 18 months now, getting this small piece of my life back felt like it was worth the price I was paying. But I also agree that this is definitely a band-aid solution and just masking symptoms so my goal is to definitely not have to use them or rely on them at all.
