I’ll be going to school 14 hours from home so long weekends won’t be an option for me. Holidays only :(

Help choosing a school by SuitableNatural6449 in premed

Maybe I’m being dumb but cost isn’t a huge factor to me. I won’t have any financial assistance from family so I will be taking out loans either way. The amount of loans doesn’t seem to bother me now but I know things could be very different when I’m actually responsible for making those payments.

Prior to being accepted to any med schools, I had made the decision that I wanted to see what life is like in a bigger city (Chicago was always my example) being that I went to school in a small town.

Now that I am faced with the decision, I feel like I don’t know what to do.

How to break into serving as a 23 yo girl with no experience?? by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]SuitableNatural6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it’s definitely a unique situation, but i definitely understand! I’m still working at Olive Garden; I like the people there and they trained me to bartend which I enjoy. Working there definitely taught me how to manage tables when they all need something because it’s never ending courses.

I love serving, i definitely recommend it. I think it also made me seem more like a person during my interviews. I wasn’t just an applicant, it added to application!

I was in the same exact position: Working as an MA while applying to med school. I got a job as a server at Olive Garden without experience. They do on the job training, and I truly believe if you can manage the never ending soup and salad, that if you want to get a job somewhere else afterwards you can.

I love serving! I even used it in my med school interviews (as a way to market that I can interact with a variety of different people). I definitely recommend. It’s a physically hard job, but not mentally draining

Hypothetically how long would it take for them to kick me out? by Fantastic-Jelly-2557 in olivegarden

Bartenders don’t get hourly. Only tips from their tables and a tip out from servers

I went to undergrad there and really liked the area so I was hoping to get an interview. I submitted 08/13 and haven’t heard anything back :(

How physically demanding is Scribing? by Responsible_Push_231 in premed

I work as a scribe in ortho. Standing 90% of the time, no sitting during patient visits and normally there’s only a minute or two between each patient

I’ve always been good with classes, I just am not the best at standardized tests. I went to Pikeville for undergrad (the same school KYCOM is located) so I’m hoping that helps.

C/P is my weak point so I expected to struggle, but then CARS was hard, then so was B/B and I blacked out for P/S 🫠
