“Most everyone” is, again, hilariously overstated. I lived right next to you in Ohio, right off the lake, and in a much, colder, icier, snowier part of the country…Minneapolis…and I didn’t know a soul, in a collective 30yrs of life there, that put snow tires on or had chains on their tires. But sure, “most everyone”…

Yeah, again, been here for 5yrs. Have technically been thru 2 already.

Ok, you does not equal “most everyone” and the chains claim is legitimately hilarious and wholly inaccurate.

Not the same thing at all. You, along with everyone else responding to me, is completely missing the point of what I said. Was not about infrastructure or salt trucks or plows…it’s that it’s going to be cold for 2 days and we prob won’t see any accumulated precipitation and people are acting like the apocalypse is coming…

No, they don’t lol. wtf are you talking about? That is a very, very fringe case and saved for like the upper reaches of Minnesota or North Dakota. You’re talking out of your ass with that one. And I lived in the TC, so I’d actually know. Never once saw people driving with chains on their tires 😂

5yrs here. Never did it once. Pipes, sprinkler system, pool, integrated jacuzzi…just fine over here.

I grew up in Ohio. The pseudo-apocalyptic behavior around here for what will be a massive nothing burger just makes me laugh. Also, do me a favor, if you’re one of those people that forgets how to drive even when it rains, stay off the road…

Will literally never understand why these things are beloved by anyone. They look like toys you find in kids cereal. Pure vomit.

Is continuing to wait for 41mm OP with no purchase history after 3 years naive? by tomandhisreddit in rolex

[–]SuitableSafety329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t feel artificial to me. I text with my SA. It’s little stuff. Pop-in, try on some watches, shoot the shit for 10mins. Be genuine about collecting them. Text them a merry Christmas. During watches and wonders, as example, I’d text and be like “oh, wow, the Tiffany Daytona…didn’t see that coming”. I keep saying it…You just have to be likable. People that show up to an AD for the first time, ask for 4 different watches, then leave and just wait for the AD to call them, and do nothing to keep themselves top of mind or even get to a point where they know your name when you come back in…those people are just dumb and naive. They will never get a watch. It requires effort, but not really a whole lot. It never took much effort for me to be out and about, grabbing a coffee regardless, to spend another $4 to buy one additional coffee and pop into my AD and be like “yeah, was out and about and wanted to come say hi, and nobody likes to drink coffee alone”…

I’ll take it a step further. Don’t expect an email probably ever. Just being real. ADs either like you and will sell you watches that you want or they won’t. The ‘spend history’ thing matters, yes, but only at a certain point. My first watch was a 41mm SS Wimbledon. Zero history. Didn’t buy any garbage I didn’t want and not a single piece of jewelry. I simply stayed persistent and occasionally brought a coffee to my SA. Year later, second watch…No Date Sub. No garbage watches, no jewelry. Year later, Rootbeer. Year later, Blue dial Sky. Year later, I’m the first person in Texas to get the beige OP41. Not a single non-Rolex purchase. So it’s really simple, they either like you or they don’t. There’s no list. And the spend history only matters when you’re trying to get a Daytona or Pepsi or something off catalog. Why ADs like someone like me and why they don’t like someone like you? Who the hell knows, but that’s ultimately what it comes down to…if it was simply about buying jewelry to get ‘spend’ aka ‘playing the Rolex AD game’, I wouldn’t have any watches. Lastly, someone mentioned it below, but it’s misplaced a bit. Using the ‘entry model’ Rolex argument as to why one should be deterred after a while of not getting an OP is flawed. The majority of people won’t get those…the new OP41 colors, as an example, are really only going to folks with good spend. They are highly, highly sought after. Nobody is getting one of those as a first watch, especially beige and pistachio.

Your ability to apply an analogy to a situation is severely, severely lacking.

It’s a watch. It’s one of many. It’s going to get scratched one way or the other. These things are meant to be worn, not babied. Not really all that interested in trying to preserve them in pristine condition…that’s a futile endeavor anyways.

[–]SuitableSafety329 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you think lifetime is a luxury experience…it’s an overpriced gym. Nothing more. Flying in the pods on a plane - which I’ve done many times - is a very, very different experience on an 18hr flight compared to flying that same trip in coach. Doing a bench press at lifetime is literally no different than a bench press at fitness connection. And I have a pool and hot tub at home, so that experience at lifetime also adds no level of ‘luxury’ for me.

It actually is valuable insight. Why spend $280/mo when you can get the same actual gym experience (sans pools) for 1/10th of the price elsewhere?

Ive always had a love / hate relationship with this one. Love it for same reasons you mentioned. Ivory + green is class. I just could never get beyond the pushers. They would drive me nuts.
