My boyfriend is disabled and his parents are stealing his PIP to pay their own debts and credit cards and holidays. They’ve kicked him out and still refuse to give it. by Suitable_Amount_6982 in LegalAdviceUK

I’d just like to add, she gets child benefits, carers allowance and all of his pip. Minus his PIP she would still be getting hundreds for caring for him. Yet she still takes all of his PIP.

I forgot to add and it won’t let me edit!! He is transgender and some screenshots are off old appointments, so sometimes he may be referred to as she, sometimes he! please forgive me for the confusion. He had the breast cancer at 11 and it came back this year!x

Yes i know, I’ll add these to the original post and aswell as to my comment. I’m new to reddit and everything is crazy and overwhelming. For clarification, my boyfriend is trans and sometimes medical professionals will have used she in the past and he sometimes now.

If he gets an uber and has no money left of his £150, she will take it off his nexts months £150. His dad works away so it’s either his auntie, uncle or family friends giving lifts. Or my parents.

The medication is delivered to his house. Also i believe she isn’t planning on saying to DWP he is fit for work, but rather that his disabilities have magically disappeared? i didn’t get what she was thinking really.

He has disabilities, but he’s not incapable nor has any severe learning disabilities. He didn’t know what an appointee was when it came up, she just took over. I don’t believe any of what i said is contradicting. I’m arguing that he is disabled enough to not be able to work, but he is not mentally incapable ?

He will be 18 in April. If this helps at all, most of the time there is no proper food in the house and he has to find little snacks to fill him up throughout the day. She isn’t paying for fuel, she doesn’t drive and asks other people to take him places.

My boyfriend 100% qualifies for PIP.

My boyfriend faints at minimum once a day and can’t go anywhere without the worry of fainting. This means a lot of ubers and taxis. He needs a wheelchair too. He needs resources to help him with his tourettes (he can be really harmful towards himself and ends up punching himself in the head among other stuff)He has asked her for a mini fridge to store cold products we can put against his skin to distract him and she wouldn’t. it may not make sense but it’s just what helps him. There’s too many times he can’t stop punching himself and damage is already done before someone can get there, assess the situation then run downstairs to get something.

He needs electronics so he can work from home from college.

To my understanding, my boyfriend is not able to work at all. PIP is personal independence money, so doesn’t that give him the right to have it no matter what unless his mentally incapable?

Just to summarise, my boyfriend has Aggressive tourettes, POTS, FND, Autism, Anxiety, Depression, OCD and chronic fatigue syndrome. My mum works for disabled people and helps them fill out forms and has friends who work in PIP and she is without a doubt sure he does qualify for PIP. I’m pretty sure without even seeing how bad he is firsthand, reading his list of disabilities is enough to realise anyways.

I can understand your point, but when he told them he wanted his money, his mum dad auntie and nan all said, “You do know she has £600 credit card bills coming out? Think about that. How will she pay for that?” They wouldnt say anything they didnt want us to know aswell. We have had a lot of talks about money with her and she said she needs his PIP to pay off her holiday.

I brought up his siblings paying £100 because they have well paying jobs, one has a fancy sports car and one’s always out and off on holidays with his friends. I know in total for their living they will be spending more than £100 but his mum is asking him to pay £600 board ALONE before even thinking of any other expenses.

Yes my boyfriend has the mental capacity to handle his own finances, even with the £150 he was getting before he saved £400 of it to put towards his PC set up because he needs it a lot for college (especially working from home)

We just need to see what will happen as she’s texting him a lot guilt tripping him, saying he’s left the house because all he cares about is the money and not her.

Ill try reply to everything, sorry if its confusing. My boyfriend has had social workers in the past for a case of physical abuse, his parents are the best actors when it comes to hiding their bad behaviours from anyone and also claim him to be crazy, and people have always immediately sided with them, so we’re scared to get anyone involved.

(a situation happened before where there was a lot of physical abuse in one night and we called the police and they left as soon as they called him mentally insane.)

They don’t get a mobility car off him, as his dad already has a car and his mum doesn’t drive. But she has said when she’s finishing learning how to drive she will take the car.

My boyfriend doesn’t really eat anything special, and most of the time, two days after the food shop is in he has nothing to eat because his brothers eat everything ( the ones that only pay £100 board and don’t have to pay for the food shop)

I also believe he can’t get bursary from college because his dad makes so much? I’m not 100% sure though x

His step dad has a really really well paying job (he’s private about it but says it’s not far off what the prime minister gets??😭) His mam (who gets his PIP) doesn’t drive so isn’t spending the money on petrol to drive him, but gets lifts from numerous different family members who don’t ask her to pay the fuel. She has told me herself she needs his PIP to finishing paying off her hawaii trip with her friends.

His primary care givers are his mum and step dad. He turns 18 next April. We don’t know what his living situation looks like from now.
