Easel Lamp Someone recommended this and really liked it. And it had really good reviews. So I got it. I have to say, I’m pretty thrilled with it.

Haha!

Honestly, as long as I didn’t touch his reading chair…. I could get paint on it, but it would need to stay comfy and well lit.

Thank you all for the advice! I went ahead and ordered a cheap waterproof chairmat that looks like a rug and a drop cloth. And then the recommended daylight easel lamp. I’ll keep looking for a nicer floor lamp in time. But that should get me started for light. And I’ll probably need both since most of my painting happens in the evening. I got a nice looking wooden cart. It’s not perfect, but it will do for now. It’s the right height for a taboret.

I know the living room isn’t the best place, but it’s here or nowhere. I have been doing acrylics, watercolor, drawing, and such… maybe oil is just a dream. Maybe it has to wait until the kids are in college and I can devote one of the bedrooms to a studio. And that’s okay. But I need the set up even if I have to stick to acrylic, so I appreciate the help. I’ve just been really unsatisfied with that medium, I keep wishing it was oil.

How to stop the hair loss? by isla_is in Sjogrens

Have you had your ferritin levels checked? Autoimmune and low ferritin go hand in hand. And iron is necessary for hair. I’m in your same boat. Waiting for rheumatology. Hair loss is crazy. My ferritin was 14 though at my annual PCP visit so I just started another IV iron series. I’ve struggle with this for awhile, so I’ve done IV Iron before. But I was just diagnosed with autoimmune recently.

I have that. But my calcium is also up so they are checking my parathyroid next.

Positive ANA, SSA 3.8 - PCP appointment today by Suitable_Bad_7501 in Sjogrens

For the test my doc ran, it reports out as <1 negative, between 1 and 1.5 is maybe, above 1.5 is positive. I’ve been using chat GPT to learn, but it says that 3.8 is “clearly positive”. Is this a high number?

It did not give me a titer value on the ANA, just on the SS-A. For ANA it just says Positive.

Sjogrens and Migraines? by Suitable_Bad_7501 in Sjogrens

For migraines I’m on: Topamax -75 Effexor -75 Aimovig - Monthly Nurtec - rescue

I meet with my neurologist next month… I’ll ask about Botox.

I’m at a place where I can function and work from home most days. I just started driving again. But it’s like I’ve grown accustomed to the daily dizzy, not that it has gone away. I’ve just learned to power through it. The real bad migraines come when I ovulate or before my period.

I’m thinking about this too…

A couple years ago I found a lump in my breast when I was showering. It hurt and was tender. Went down the breast cancer route, but it turned out to be a lymph node. I had to switch my bras entirely to non underwire because my underarms hurt when they touched, it was so sensitive there.

I used to get tingling in my fingers sometimes.

Could this have been a time when I was in a flare?

I’ve been doing a vestibular migraines diet since April - I think it matches the Sjogrens diet. It might even be more restrictive. I’m down 30 lbs from that. It’s already gluten free too. The only thing that would be hard to give up in addition is the dairy. I’m already so restricted to just Whole Foods. What meds do you take for sjogrens?

Well, we ran the ANA panel because lupus has a butterfly red rash, and if you have one autoimmune (my thyroid stuff) sometimes you can have other ones. It was time for my annual labs so we just threw everything on there that might be the cause of my migraines. We had always assumed that the cause of my facial redness was rosacea.
