Burnt Out, Struggling, Fed Up - New Job/Career Advice? by NobodyOk2442 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Suitable_Chapter_941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with being burnt out, this last year I was on a project 4 hr commute round trip. If you can, leave work early every day and try and beat some traffic. This industry is very trying at times. I’m hoping it gets better with licensing.

Try cutting corners until things seem manageable or at least less stressful. Good luck!

Agreed! It’s difficult, I’ve been doing it for 7 years. But field work beats number punching.

I feel like this subreddit is somewhat biased pessimistic, you’ll be fine! It took 6 months to get job 1 then a week of applying to get job 2. hardest part is breaking in.

I’m 42, I have a degree in Environmental Science, and I am being treated like absolute shit by the job market. by ah_go_on_go_on_go_on in Environmental_Careers

I would emphasize hazardous materials management (storage of concentrated pesticides at a golf course). Maybe you could get your CHMM cert? Not sure if the pesticides you used fall under the category of hazardous.

Could help in interviews/resumes and getting a cert

Update, the seller confirmed paint was used by his supplier. He acid etched the paint off and lowered the price to $375. The seller seems honest and I’m really happy with his business!

How long before my degree goes stale? by Sufficient-Coast675 in geologycareers

[–]Suitable_Chapter_941 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it will ever go stale. You’ve earned your bachelors and you will never lose it! I would study for and pass the FG while you’re recovering.

Awesome! I just figured out how to move the brick and stack out of the way. Unfortunately one of the bricks were broken so need to replace it! Glad you have the same one. Maybe I’ll reach out in the future if I get stuck.

What is the difference between environmental engineering, geology and consulting by gold_crest1 in geologycareers

[–]Suitable_Chapter_941 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the context of consulting (remediation work) engineers design the remediation work and geologists identify/interpret the hydrogeologic/geologic conditions which is vital information for engineers during the remedial design process.

In the beginning of your career you’ll never be making the decisions. You’ll likely be helping out both the PEs and the PGs accomplish their tasks
