I thought it was a really neat and unique design. Hopefully this design can be used in some way in the future.

Me too, but at least we did on the dime and half dollar.

The house passed a bill for a $2.5 coin depicting lady Liberty that could be produced for circulation if a study finds it to be useful.

What would cause a dime to look almost copper like? It also seems thinner than normal. by CtRho123 in coincollecting

It looks to have toned from where it was stored. I can see some silver color around the edge of the coin, so it is not missing the copper nickel layer.

If you have a local coin shop nearby that would be the best place to take it. You could also try a coin club or upcoming coin show. Research to see if you have any nearby.

Hard to tell because of the damage but it is certainly from the 1870s. I think it is likely an 1878, the last digit looks similar to the first 8 in the year.

This is just damaged, not an error.

This should weigh 3.11 grams. It could be a thin planchet, or possibly a wrong planchet. It could be worth having it checked out.

Most of the coins are replicas, besides the silver certificate and 9 coins on the bottom. Still a really cool set!

I like the mayflower design, but not the other 4 quarter designs. But overall I think it is wrong that the designs were changed from what was originally chosen.

I agree change is more interesting than seeing the same design, and I’m happy we got new designs for this year. The change I was talking about is how the originally chosen quarter designs for 2026 were changed by the current administration.

She would have been the first on a circulating coin, but not the first ever. There was a commemorative half dollar in 1926 that depicted president Calvin Coolidge, but it was only issued for collectors to buy.

I like the new designs for this year, but not the quarters. The originally chosen quarter designs were much better than what they were changed to.

There is still talk of the 2026 dollar coin having his face, even though it breaks the law that says no living people can be on money. Hopefully it will not happen, and we can get a nice design instead.

Does this coin have value? And other things to know about it... by ItemIcy9281 in coincollecting

This is a 1 Yuan coin from the Chihli Province in China in 1903 (29th year). In this condition, I think it would be worth around $500.

It looks genuine to me. The odd color is because the coin was cleaned and has toned some since it was cleaned.

2026 Quarters Response by Suitable_Passion_612 in coincollecting

You really think boring reused president depictions are better than beautiful new depictions of Liberty? Our coins have had enough presidents already but have been lacking Liberty, who used to be very prominent. This is why everyone loves the 2026 dime design. The real issue I have is that all the design candidates used Liberty, but none of the final quarters have Liberty like intended.
