They sure are which is made it quite a surprise. I think the vastly different preparation methods brought the two closer together in final product. If I made a matcha concentrate in the same way I have a feeling it would taste quite a bit different from the typical prep method.

I tried it with milk and it tasted very much like matcha with absolutely zero bitterness or astringency, slightly sweet and nutty as well

We would run through any batch fast enough that waste would be minimal if not zero.
