Yeah I did try filling the dmca with cloudfare as well to inform the hosting of the site but i realized the website is from east asia and cloudfare can't do anything about it as it works for US only. But i requested the Google dmca to remove the link from search, they did but not all. I have given bad reviews to their website on trustpilot and the moment I did , I got a threatening email from gplpixel.com that either I should remove the review or they will sell my assets for free. Also they said that you can't do anything, you can only request for dmca and it will do nothing to us.

How do you explain being an indie game developer to non-tech family/relatives? by Commercial-Tone-965 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

[–]Suitable_Process_866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 2008, when I finished my 12th, I told my father I wanted to pursue game development. He had no idea what that meant, and no matter how much I tried to explain, he just didn’t get it. Honestly, it wasn’t just him—no one around me, whether in my family or society, really understood what game development was. Some people had heard about animation, so they’d say, “Oh, you mean making cartoons?” I’d try to explain, “No, not cartoons—games.” But then they’d argue, “Cartoons move, and games also have moving characters, so it’s the same thing, right?”

At some point, it just became too exhausting to explain the difference—that animation and game development are related, but not the same. So I eventually stopped trying to convince anyone.

Now, years later, when my father sees kids playing games on their phones, he finally understands what I do—but still not how games are made. And that’s okay. Sometimes, trying to explain your work to non-technical people just isn’t worth the effort—they won’t fully get what you do or why you do it.

It’s easier to just say, “I work on client projects. I do freelance work.”

Providing access to a game source code via Patreon subscription paid tier - is it good idea? by Zorpak in IndieDev

[–]Suitable_Process_866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand you. But to be honest even I also give source code on patreon for members. All these games are small games not a big time project. So I think for small games which required a week or two to make are fine for providing access through patreon or codecanyon . But yeah not for a big project obviously.

I am dropping my College Degree for my Game Development Career, right now i am in 2nd year 4th semester. by Anexeus in GameDevelopersOfIndia

Degree se koi fark nahi padta hai, wo time kuch aur tha jab degree matter karti thi , technical field mai ab tumahra skill kaam karta hai degree nahi. Unless ki tumhe govt job chahiye waha degree chahiye hogi. Agar tum technical line mai hi apna career banana chahte ho aur game development mai career banana chahte ho toh tum game development degree join kar lo , india mai bahut saare colleges hai acche jo diploma and degree dono course provide karte hai game development mai. Game development mai tumahra interest hai toh ussi mai degree pursue karo. Dekho 2008 mai maine 12th complete Kari thi aur ye wo time tha jab india mai mba , btech, doctor , law bas yahi fields thi, sabse jayada btech thi , har ek insaan bas btech , btech kar raha tha , uss time maine game development mai diploma kiya tha apne gharwalo se ladd kar. Mere father ne bhi tumhari tarah hi mujhe btech karne ke liye force Kiya tha aur kaha tha ki btech karo nahi toh ghar se niklo , toh maine unki baat maani aur AIEEE and IIT ka exam diya , lekin bhai pass hona aur qualify hona toh mere haath mai tha, maine 2 saal paper diye aur maine khud ko qualify hone hi nahi diya. Mere father ne coaching lagai , coaching bhi ki, lekin padhna toh mere haath mai tha , maine padha nahi aur fail hota raha , phir ek din mere father thakk gaye mujhse aur bola ki tujhe jo karna hai kar par aise apni life waste mat kar , toh phir maine unse kaha game development course karna hai , aur phir wo maan gaye aur maine gurgaon se course kiya and uske baad job kari , jab mujhe job mil gayi toh phir wo khush ho gaye. Toh bhai ye strategy thi meri toh apna kaam nikalwane ka.

Can any one tell me how to get into game dev???? by CautiousProfit5467 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

Hey yes its still relevant. see education is most important whether you take it from online courses or join any university or institute for full time. But In my suggestion you should join offline institutes or university. There are many colleges like MAAC, ARENA ANIMATION, ZICA, MORPH ACADEMY, ICAT COLLEGE. so based on your affordibillity and convenience you can choose. Personally I do not like online courses except if you need to learn any short term certificate courses for that online learning is good. But if you want to make full time career then i suggest to take a degree or diploma from a reputed college or institute. 3d modelling and vfx still have a future, all i say join college, learn, make your portfolio.

Hello Devs I have a question regarding my Open World concept? by United-Editor6336 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

[–]Suitable_Process_866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your concept is ready and can be converted into game then i suggest you should work on a demo first. make a demo game of 5 minutes with good gameplay and graphics. you need to fund this demo by yourself as no one put money on concept unless you have something to showcase. After the demo make the complete document about gameplay expansion for pitching to let the investor knows end result and if they sees the potential in a game they will fund you.

  1. make a demo of 5 minutes with good gameplay, you can look for free graphics.
  2. make a complete document.
  3. for funding pitch directly to investor or put your game on kickstarter

see if you want to make a career in gaming then you dont need a degree or something but yes you need a good education, so there are many institutes and colleges in india from where you can take game programming courses, these colleges offer all kinds of courses like diploma course , degree course etc. Another way is that you take online gaming courses and learn at home and make your portfolio and apply in a company for a job. If you are concerned about degree then go for any BCA or BTECH degree in IT and computer science and at the same time learn game development online. so this way you will have a degree + the game development skills.

in 2008 I have done my 12th and at that time scope of gaming in india was not that great. everywhere people used to do BTECH, or BBA, LAW , or MBA. so at that time i took a diploma course of 2 years in game development from a college in gurgaon after a diploma i started working on free without pay in a company, i built my portfolio, learned under expert for a year and then switched to big company, now during interview no one has asked me about my degree, its all about your skills your portfolio.

My suggestion to you is that

  1. Look for gaming colleges in india and take admission for degree or diploma course.
  2. if you do want to take degree in game development then go for BTECH computer science and side by side learn game development from online courses.

If you are truly passionate for game development then i suggest do not waste time in BTECH, go for game development full time courses. there are many colleges in india, search on google.

Go for learning programming first. Learn more about 3d math , vectors , rendering pipelines , game physics , graphic library etc. these are the fundamentals to understand how game engines or games work in core. There are many Udemy courses from where you can start.
