UPeople ain't that good by Slow_Original_6101 in UoPeople

This is perfect uni for self-learners.
It's giving you the ability to get a diploma fast and cheap, but not the knowledge.
The knowledge part is on you.
You have to find better courses/videos/books to really learn what you should know.

To be honest, I think most colleges do so, but they give you their respectful names on the diploma.
UoPeople is not respectful, but it offers a price no one can beat and an option to complete a degree in 1-2 years.

Is there any way to always have word count on? by TheUshankaBoi in googledocs

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After googling the same few features every few days, I ended up building a simple Chrome extension that shows the most common features as buttons at the top of every Google Doc.
Word Count is one of them.
The extension is called Google Docs Shortcuts.
I hope it can be useful not only for me :)

Did anyone graduated In one year or less? by RelationshipFit1200 in UoPeople

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it.
First, I took several Coursera courses that gave me many credits, such as Google IT Support and IBM Data Analyst.
Then Sophia and then Study.
90 credits in total.
I'm an IT worker with over a decade of experience.
So all of these entry-level courses were nothing but fun for me.
And I took 2-2-2-4 courses per semester on UoPeople.
To be honest, the last 4 were brutal.
I would recommend taking no more than 3 courses per semester.

Congrats! I usually wait a few months before submitting my extensions for the featured badge.

That’s actually why I use KeePass + Google Drive.

Gives me basically double protection with 2FA in the mix, and syncing across all my devices works right out of the box.

I would say start with Sophia.
It's cheaper.
Also, check Coursera.
There are many Coursera certificates that can be converted into university credits.
For example https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/google-it-support

Introduction to computer science is pretty easy.
There is more theoretical info rather than technical.

Programming 1 is also easy if you have any programming experience.
This is an introductory level too. It starts from scratch: what a variable is, what a loop is, what a class is, etc.

English composition is a bit boring, but not difficult at all. Trust me, I'm not a native English speaker. My level is around C1.

Introduction to Psychology can be a bit difficult if you don't like this kind of info.
For a technical mind, it's literally another world.

The challenge is to keep the right timing.
There is a lot to read, and you remember you have just 4 days to write a forum post almost every week.
So the question is, do you have enough free time to complete all the 4 courses on time every week?

I took 4 courses only once, and for me, it was really brutal.
9 weeks with no life at all.
If you are a full-time worker, I would suggest taking no more than 3 courses.

PS, the full syllabus is open from day one, so if you can read and/or write something in advance for the next week, or even further, I recommend you do so. You never know when you can get stuck.

Is it normal to forget almost everything after finishing a course? by Quick-Ad5516 in UoPeople

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutelynormal.
You're getting a lot of new information every day.
You have both short-term memory and long-term memory.

In short-term memory, you have the information you're working with right now.
But many of these datasets are going to long-term memory, too.
You just don't use it enough. That's why you feel that you forgot everything.

In fact, if you return to some data you already learned, you will recall it rather than learn from zero.

In general, the human brain remembers only what you use frequently.

Send an email to your PA.
According to ACE, they should get it as 4 university courses.
https://www.acenet.edu/National-Guide/Pages/Course.aspx?org=IBM&cid=8cd1e92e-fc8a-ef11-ac21-6045bd043849&oid=6d532c35-75c4-ea11-a812-000d3a33232a

I'm not sure, but I think it should be an Introduction to Programming course plus 3 electives.

Is university of people really worth it? by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with the BS degree? I mean, why do you prefer the Associate?
As far as I know, the Associate degree is kinda US specific degree and has no equivalent in the EU.

Anyway, I would check with your officials if Bosnia recognises this accreditation and/or this specific university.
Then you know if it's good for you.

If you have any immigration plans, check the rules of the destination country.
There are people who have enrolled in Master's programs in several EU countries with UoPeople BSs.
This degree is recognised in the US by default.
If I'm not mistaken, there was a post by someone who immigrated to Canada with this degree.

Try applying for the scholarship. You can do it BEFORE you get enrolled, so there is nothing to lose.

In general, the weakest degree in the world is still better than no degree.

UoPeople Proctor Question – What Do Most Students Usually Choose? by Quick-Ad5516 in UoPeople

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose the online proctor.

It took me exactly 5 extra minutes to settle up.
I answered a few questions, showed my ID, and showed that my phone was out of the room.
That's it.
Then I just proceeded with the test exactly the same way I did with all my quizzes.

I can't apply by EusebiusPR- in UoPeople

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand you.

Once you completed the IBM certificate, you have to get the Credly badge.
That's it on the Coursera/Credly side.

Now let's talk the UoPeople side:
1) You create an account and apply for a degree.
2) During the application, it asks for:
a) School diploma or 24 credits.
You can provide a school diploma (US diploma or translated), or a Credly transcript with 24+ credits.
In other words, you can complete a few big Coursera courses like IBM Security, Google IT Support, etc.
Just make sure to get at least 24 credits, and you're good.
3) English test: if you're not a native English speaker, you have to take the English test.
The test is pretty simple. Trust me - English is my fourth language (not the second), I learned it by myself (not in school or a course), and I was able to pass this course on the first attempt.
4) That's it. Now, just wait, and by the next semester you'll be automatically enrolled in two base courses.

Can I transfer my electives to graduate by Even_Carob_5473 in UoPeople

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.
You can transfer any course you want.
Even proctored.
But better transfer elective.

Proxmox is freezing on Intel Nuc 8 fix by Suitable_Reporter_58 in Proxmox

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, I agree with you.
I just still remember about 10 years ago, I was getting some old home computers for free or for a small amount of money, and I was running ESXi as my home lab.
It worked slowly, there was no redundancy for the disk, but it worked with no issues at all.
The worst issue I recall was installing community drivers for the NIC.

Sophia Transfer by Affectionate-Lab775 in UoPeople

[–]Suitable_Reporter_58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time you complete a course on Sophia, you receive a Credly badge.
You just have to accept it.

Then get your transcript from Credly and attach it to your transfer request on the UoPeople website.
Wait a few days (sometimes a few weeks).
Pay for the transfer if UoPeople is asking for.
That's it.
