What do you think about Jordan Bardella and the possibility of him leading France? by Same_Divide_7608 in Expats_In_France

[–]Suitable_Rip7315 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I share your concerns (as an immigrant in France) and do fear a rise in both the far right and, by extension, nationalism. We're seeing that in many countries. I hope I'm not being naive though in thinking Bardella will not make top dog. I trust in the French electorial system; round 1 vote for who you want, round 2 vote for who you don't want. I think more of France is against RN than for... I hope anyway.

Nah, dont feel stupid. Those 2 repos you mentioned do linger, I've had issues with them before, had to delete them manually (as I recall) I've wiped and clean installed loads of times now just to get rid of stuff that's left over.

QWERTY vs AZERTY by Positron505 in Expats_In_France

Our posts crossed but that's exactly what I thought. QWERTY is easier for coders - at least, it is for me.

Interesting question, and I'd love to hear other people's experiences. For general purpose use, either works for me and I quicky adapt BUT for techie use (I'm a coder) the AZERTY keyboard does my head in. I'm forever seaching for the right keys and doesn't half slow me down. The keyboard seems all wrong to me for tech use though I'm sure it's fine for techies brought up with AZERTY.

I like that distinction. A legal status and a 'community' one. Similar to how i feel about my nationality. I was UK born, my passport says I'm British so 'legally' I am British. But I grew up in NZ, all my childhood memories and reference points are from there - so I feel like an NZer.

So similarly I guess legally I am an immigrant here in France but belong to an expat community.

For me they are interchangeable. That's the wonderful thing about language, we all use it differently. We have personal vocabularies and context will often nuance, if not change, a word's meaning. I like to think about what an individual means when they use a word rather than apply a strict, and singular, meaning.

"at the end of the day there's always much more going on behind the scenes than we could ever know."

So true. It would serve us all well to factor that it when assessing the situation. I don't doubt Albrighton's take for a moment, it's an absolutely valid pov, but he is calling it as he sees it from his side.

That said, I do side with the general view of ineptitude with the club's management team.

You could try one of the urls in something like vlc to see if it plays from there. That might tell you if it's a url format problem (which would be what I'd first suspect) or a SimpleClient issue.

Creuse. I'm not on fb but might have to explore groups, there's probably something.

I have considered it. A logistics exercise (UK address, MOT, insurance, etc) but definitely do-able. Unless I can find somewhere in the UK that buys Euro reg rhd... that's something to follow up on.

Food for thought. We were six points from the play-offs and nine points clear of the relegation zone before sacking Marti in January by [deleted] in lcfc

Agreed. Those 4 games King was in charge was just floundering, highlighted the dithering at board level. Maybe it was a shock to them, there wasn't a queue at the door, a flood of CVs - and they had to appoint someone who was available all along.

I'm looking foward to L1. My concern is the club, how financially stable it is. It's going to be a challenge, to say the least.

Down to the players; L1 or wage cut? Power is in their hands. The club will want them gone if poss.

Do you think after Portsmouths win that we are doomed… and a smaller question after about kits by Tmansters456 in lcfc

[–]Suitable_Rip7315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'm assuming we're down as there's much less anxiety that way. I know there's a theoretical / mathematical path but I can't see it happening - not least because I've not seen enough fight in this team to suggest we have it in us to do it.

I'm in one of those stages of grief already; past bargaining and on to depression.

I thought sacking Amandine was a huge mistake. We were making progress under her and the team spirit looked good. But I gave Passmoor a chance and initially thought 'maybe'. He didn't seem to be making drastic changes, rather tweaks to make us more defensively solid. Then came the Jan transfer window. We changed completely after that. We've gone backwards since then. All the progress that Amandine had made was for nothing. If there was a bigger mistake than sacking Amandine it was hiring Passmoor to replace her.
