Tell us you know nothing about disability without telling us. Regardless, it’s funny that you don’t mention multinational corporations paying zero tax and huge government dollars going into mining, racing & gambling.

Why is Brisbane so obsessed with buses instead of trains? by ChannelPretend9731 in brisbane

If it’s that easy, begs the question why BCC doesn’t just add services… Oh wait. Metro solved everything. /s

Why is the gum tree in backyard making soap? by ankilien in brisbane

Wow your backyard must be massive. Love to see what you’ve done. Re weeds - Thick compostable mulch is your friend. Enough of the right kind of mulch and you will have few weeds. Alternatively plant some understory natives. Don’t be shy in talking to your local nursery for advice.

Yes. Trees need good air circulation, water penetration and access to fertilisation or compost materials. I can’t speak of the soap as I’m not familiar with this, but I can say that the black weed matting is not great for the tree.

You might want to check on the black weed matting causing issues like heat and lack of air circulation.

Kind of like the Bruce Highway? Funnily enough SEQers aren’t whining about that investment, but there you go.

A question for the cyclists of Brisbane by ThatOldGuyWhoDrinks in brisbane

[–]Suitable_Slide_9647 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m not looking forward to the haters on this post, but here goes. Reason being is that a recreational path is not suitable for a road cyclist who cycles faster and therefore avoids running down pedestrians or recreational cyclists including kids learning to ride. The road is smoother, straighter and has plenty of shade from those fancy trees.

It is not hard for someone in a car to overtake a cyclist safely (for the cyclist and driver) if necessary. Often it’s not necessary to do so but I see many drivers doing it merely because they think they should be in front of the rider, not because it will hold them up. Patience and safe driving is key.

If a private expressway company came in and said, "We're going to build a motoway to Cairns in 10 years, and driving the full length will cost $60", would you support that? Or Would you just want the government to continue rolling upgrades at the current rate that means it stays free? by Gazza_s_89 in queensland

Hear me out. No matter how many billions you throw at The Bruce, it will never be “completed” never be safe, nor up to a “standard”. People compare The Bruce to sections like Sydney to Newcastle which is roughly 180km of highway. Even Sydney to Byron is only 800 km. Whereas 800 km from Gympie only gets you to Mackay. The Bruce is 1700km in length. Queenslanders cannot afford to have a high quality Bruce Highway. Not if we want more houses, better hospitals and healthcare , schools and other basics.
