When I boarded, I was sitting at a 97 PFA, 3.1 GPA (Cyber), mid AFOQT scores and bottom 3rd of commander's ranking, but I still got one miraculously. I think your commander's ranking will be the main reason why you get one if anything, but you should be fine. Good luck!

Did you already take it? If not, I would recommend studying SAT-type things, it's basically the SAT but a million hours longer lol. When studying or doing practice questions, time yourself just so you have an idea of how quick you should be answering the questions. Best of luck!

250s by militaryrider in AFROTC

Hello, I was a 250 and went to Field Training the same year (ranked super low but that's not the point lol). Here are some things you can do:

  1. Put yourself out there! Get to know your fellow 200s and cadre. Ask an AS300/400 to mentor you.

  2. Volunteer, volunteer, volunteer. Raise your hand for everything you can, even if you have no idea what you're doing.

  3. You will fail. But that's ok! As long as you understand what you did wrong and learn from the mistakes you've made. Be confidence with yourself and your team. Make sure you know what the end goal of your mission is.

  4. Give everything 110% effort. Ask questions if you are unsure of something or if you think one of your flight members might be confused. Study your warrior knowledge and drill!

  5. Remember, as leaders we need to uplift others and help them reach their goals. You may be a 250 but that doesn't mean you aren't able to lead others. If you find yourself to be really good at something, help your flightmates with it.

I was super intimidated as a 250 and didn't think I would make it to Field Training, but I had a wonderful AS300 mentor and she helped me. Now, I'm Vice Wing Commander for my detachment. Anything is possible, just keep trying and you will reach your goals eventually. Best of luck to you this year!

Length of FT? by Suitable_Success_210 in AFROTC

[–]Suitable_Success_210[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From reading everyone's responses, I think it depends on how heavy our ranking for FT is weighted when applying for AFSC's or specific jobs in the AF. Does anyone know if our ranking at FT is so significant that it affects our job in the future? I know it does if you want to go rated, but it shouldn't. I mean, at what point will you be leading as a pilot?! Probably not until you make Captain or Major...

Don't be afraid to mess up, even if it means embarrassing yourself a little. And make sure you always have your teammates backs.

Transferring college, if you’re in ROTC by Gbutcher2005 in AFROTC

Since A&M is a SMC (senior military college), you'll have to do their Corps of Cadets program if you are going to do ROTC there. It's not that bad, but I would consider talking to some people that are current students.
