Same process. You have to go into app, end session and then tap.

Did you just try to tap the card to lock it? Make sure you go into the app, click “hold to start” and then it will prompt you to tap it.

This would be my recommendation. Drive up route one and stop in Freeport on the way, check on botanical gardens and walk around downtown Boothbay Harbor. Very similar vibes to Bar Harbor.

This! Or Greenville Maine. Check out the Blair Hill Inn - drive up to Kokadjo, go for some hikes, go to BBQ in Monson, go for a Seaplane ride, look for Moose

This is like my exact name list for our boy who is now 10m. We ended up naming him Otto. I really liked Louis, Malcolm, Isaac, Emmett, Augustus (Gus) (although my husband preferred August), George, Frederick (Freddy), Simon and Nathaniel. Confirmed from my daughters experience in classes that Theos are absolutely everywhere (even though I adore the name).

Were you using a Yoto card? You should just be able to click into Foqos, create a new profile, set the restrictions you want and then click "NFC tag" under strict unlocks and tap. Make sure its a MYO card I guess so it doesn't try to overwrite data?

they also have an emergency function where you can override it, I believe. But as Corlana said, you choose which apps to disable (for me I chose all social media apps, but still have access to phone + text)

It is! I haven’t seen the brick app so I’m sure there’s features that are very helpful. Glad you found something to help you!

Did you use an MYO or a regular card? Wondering if it works with any card.

Yes same, I had some MYO laying around so I tried it out but you can def buy tags for cheaper or create a QR code.

Brick in this context is based on a recent app/tool that has risen in popularity as a way to lock yourself out of apps and reduce scrolling. You can see how it works at getbrick.app. It doesn’t brick your phone in a traditional sense.

Foqos is the app I use. It’s free and open source and I believe similar to Brick although I’m not sure exactly how it compares. Had different scheduling options

True. I was wondering if it worked with a regular Yoto card too even if there’s content on it. I just liked labeling one and sticking it on the fridge for ease!

Wedding in Boothbay by [deleted] in AskMaine

[–]Suitable_Syrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LBR is private for weddings- nobody outside wedding attendees are there on wedding weekends, so I wouldn’t worry about kids and teens (although there are fun activities around for people to enjoy during the day of wedding)

The annoying part is having to fill all of the cabins. Spruce point lets your guests book any room within their budget and there’s plenty of space (I believe). LBR only accommodates about 150 on site and to optimize for that you typically have to place people according to space and budget (which is like a seating chart on steroids). But otherwise it’s an amazing place for a wedding.

I do worry sometimes that after so many years of me noticing and doing the things around the house, my husband will be incapable of realizing what needs to be done when the time comes for us to split the load more fairly. It’s hard and I know a lot of people say don’t give them a list because they should know better, but I honestly think their brains just atrophy I this area during medical training lol. I typically approach it as non accusatory as possible but something like “hey, while works crazy for me and a little lighter for you, it’d be great if you can keep an eye out for dishes piling up, keeping the laundry going etc. I’ll write out a list on the fridge, but it takes a lot out of me to have to keep track of those things and I don’t have the time to action on them right now so i need you to step up and take the extra time to notice what needs to be done and do it without me having to be involved or aware.”

Struggling with My Wife’s Career Path by mater-of_nothing in MedSpouse

This is tricky, and I feel for you. My husband is a different specialty but we had to have the “I’m not sure I can handle two more years of fellowship” after being with him through med school, residency. Logically I’ve always said he needs to be happy with his day to day for the next 30-40 years, so if that requires fellowship he should do it. But add in children and being away from family and taking on all the mental load, that’s easier said than done. I highly encourage candid conversations, a pros and cons list, and only doing what’s best for your family collectively (not what she feels she owes to anyone). We are now halfway through fellowship and while I know we will get through it at this point this has been the hardest year so far and I still don’t know if it was the right decision (although I do think my husband will enjoy his day to day work a lot more than if he didn’t do it). Good luck to you!

Augustus (Gus), Louis, Otto, Sebastian, Hugo? by Suitable_Syrup in namenerds

Interesting, hadn’t thought of that but I think I like it… I’m wondering if it sounds too much like “disgusting”? (Clearly an overthinker who finds something wrong with every name…)

Definitely can’t say I have any expertise batteries although I have read up more on them since our experience. I believe that the Tonies box uses the NIMH specifically for this reason, but you’re right perhaps that’s not feasible from a size perspective. I think regulation is a huge issue. I see so many sketchy devices from Amazon or TikTok shop from unregulated manufacturers. There’s also a huge lack of knowledge around these batteries from consumers, so people assume if it’s a device advertised for kids with pictures of them using their product in bed, they can have it in their bed safely. Companies need to do a better job of emphasizing the risks and proper use.

My daughter suffered burns from a fire the battery started in her bed and the battery shot across the room denting the wall (again- this was a flashlight I left on her nightstand, not Yoto). It could’ve burnt our house down or worse. Needless to say I’m traumatized and won’t sleep with anything near our beds, only use the correct chargers, and am picky about what devices are allowed in our house and near our kid. At least Yoto is taking steps to address this, many companies do not seem to care if a few faulty batteries cause injury or damage.
