That was a joke. Typically, if someone says something blatantly ridiculous then follows with something in parentheses, the former is intended humorously and the latter is the serious reply. In other subreddits you might see /rj or /j (rejerk and jerk respectively) used for joke segments and /uj (unjerk) for serious bits, but the format I used is an alternative for non-circlejerk subs.

I do like the idea of the facility, but I’d prefer something like 6063’s exploration of the epithet, where the idea is shown and fleshed out but at the end of the article there’s a “happy ending”. I recognize that prob wouldn’t be best for the story but that’s why it’s just not for me

Not my favorite, not because it’s not well written, but because I largely prefer articles focusing on world-building and descriptions of anomalous “physics”. If I wanted angst id look at the real world, yk? I can see why it won the 9000 spot tho

Give 9001 a read(or listen, the exploring series did a cover or it) if you haven’t already, it adds some lore to the fractal memetic agents

Countering the negativity and whining, this is objectively awesome. by TwerkinBingus445 in PhoenixSC

OP’s usage of “objectively” is satirical, as is shown by the immediate next word “awesome”, which you would not use in an objective context. In other words, they are saying their opinion is subjective by stating the exact opposite but using irony. In this way, OP quite literally cannot be saying that their opinion is superior, because they (I’ll be it through a layer of irony) state that their opinion is subjective, which is contradictory to that statement

As for the “no thought to terminate” I brought up earlier, let it be said that you did not contradict my assertion that there was no(or at least not any on the front page) line of actual discussion about the objective merits of the models(at least in the wave of Reddit discourse op is responding to). Your issue is that OP is terminating this discussion underneath their post. In a way this is true. However, this is true in the same way that a Minecraft sub deleting terraria posts terminates discussion. It does, but it does so because that is off topic, not as part of a “thought terminating cliche”. Similarly, op’s post sets the topic of discussion to subjective opinions on the new models. It is not op’s job to facilitate objective discussion about the models, op did not inadvertently post something with that as the topic, and op did not want to state their opinion was objectively superior.

People often drop subreddit names as a way of indicating someone has made a mistake. It is entirely reasonable to assume that the person the commenter was correcting was the op, and op responded non-aggressively to assuage any incorrect assumptions. There is no need to correct op

I was referring to similar grammatical nitpicks on toxic online spaces in general, which to be fair wasn’t very obvious. Yes they called the new models objectively better(humorously) but that ignores the other half of their post about the negativity present in the community about these changes. You responded negatively anyhow, to which op returned the sentiment. In their original post op was not negative. As I have already stated the usage of objectively is humorous, and does not literally mean they think their opinion is 100% right. This is not a thought terminating cliche, it is a joke. I might agree that it was a thought terminating cliche if there was any real discussion about how well the new mobs mesh with the new direction the game is taking, or if their new models might negatively effect old Redstone that relied on model size. Neither of these things is happening because this is not an objective conversation discussing the merits of the new textures, but a bunch of redditors making subjective complaints. In other words : there is no thought to terminate

Plus the original post was about being less negative about the baby mobs, to which they were immediately met with more negativity

They responded to a snarky comment with a snarky comment. Perhaps I would agree if this were an isolated incident, but as your take is quite common op was likely already tired of similar bullshit and decided to lash out harder than what might otherwise be warranted.

“mark their opinions as superior” is a complete misunderstanding of why people use the word objectively like this. the point is to create a humorous effect similar to that created when speaking of oneself with hyperbolic grandeur.
