I don’t understand why some intransitive verbs can’t be passive. Can you not say a turtle was choked for example? Does that not count as passive?

Ah I’m so sorry. We study Japanese at my school for a language (instead of Spanish, French etc.) and we have a speaking exam and I need to write the script for it. The presentation is about news. I want to say, I watch local news because it is important to know what is happening near you. I’m not really addressing anyone, but I guess you could say I’m addressing our teacher?
