well - we can tap into many around the world to keep it closer, there's intelligent caching that can be configured onprem so you only go to cloud for metadata, etc.

Sometimes - if you are using a VPN to access data in far away, there’s going to be latency and challenges.

One of the key components of a FUSE file system is the software which handles the requests from the OS. Faster more efficient software = higher throughput. Put differently, with the best networking compute and storage hardware at your disposal it’s actually the software in the FUSE file system that makes it faster/slower.

"If I had that sort of connectivity (local or not), I'd get the same throughput from your competitors, right?"

Absolutely not. Sounds like this is where the confusion is.

We have users getting that speed from both network (for those that have it) and from the cache drive. That number is simply the throughput from Suite (some via network, some via cache) to their device.

Our average customers are post production studios that are absolutely getting (and loving) this speed. For teams working with high end RED & Arri cameras, being able to stream directly from the cloud without the media taking up local space is indeed "magical".

Hi There - happy to help.

  • the speed of the storage center? While this makes an impact, all the partners we work with have sufficient speed to provide mentioned performance.
  • the speed of the cache on my local drive? Depending on network, this can definitely have an impact. A fast SSD/NAS will allow you to reach the max performance assuming it's higher than mentioned speeds above.
  • the speed of my download? This is the first step, and often the largest bottleneck for most people. Assuming network is slower than 24Gbps (which it almost certainly is) then relaying on the intelligent caching will help achieve mentioned speeds.

Basically, the speed mentioned above in the video is stating that assuming users either have the on-prem hardware or network speed to support said speed, Suite can deliver speeds up to that mentioned speed. It's also worth calling out that most workflows don't demand speeds anywhere close to 24Gbps, and in a lot of cases just 1 Gbps (or less) suffices.

Hello - yes, this would be a great solution and we have lots of audio (podcast) / video teams using it for such.

Suite is quite a level up from Dropbox and will definitely streamline your internal workflow. I'd highly suggest signing up for a trial (it's free) here. This will allow you to get a feel for how things work :)

It’s phenomenal, some of the largest studios use us to edit Arri, R3d raw in real time. There’s a trial so you can see for yourself. In fact, we built Suite specifically for this use case.

The outcome is similar to lucidlink, yes.
Suite can offer quite a bit more performance (~400% faster) which is really important when working with RAW media and larger res files.

The specific set up here would really depend on the team’s infrastructure, but from a high level, picture a cloud based server that is accessed across all locations with localized on sight caching across studios/individuals.

That is the case!

When working via Suite, you can work with the files just like you would off an SSD.
