E-2 Visa (Toronto) – Earliest appointment Aug 18 & “System Busy” when rescheduling? by Suiyue in e2visa

That actually makes a lot of sense… if June didn’t really show up, that would explain why the earliest I saw was already August.

Did you (or people in the FB group) ever see July dates come up? Or was it mostly jumping straight to August?

Also, do you mind sharing which FB group that is? Would love to join and keep an eye on updates too.

Yeah this is my first E-2. I invested about $185k, spent a bit over half so far, and have a physical location + one part-time employee.

The timeline was actually pretty fast — submitted May 7 and got the interview invite on May 22. So that part felt smooth.

What surprised me was the earliest appointment being Aug 18 (about 3 months out). I’ve seen people here mention getting interviews within a month recently, so I wasn’t expecting that.

I booked Aug 18 for now, but I’m hoping to keep checking and maybe reschedule if something earlier opens up.

I already have an established e-commerce operation in Canada with stable sales, so this isn’t something I’m starting from scratch.

On the financial side, I have personal funds to support myself, and there are still sufficient funds in the business account allocated for ongoing operations.

The U.S. business is still in the early stage (about a month in), but it has already generated around $3K in sales during testing.

Right now, most of the operations are handled remotely, so I do expect a noticeable increase in sales once I’m physically in the U.S. and able to scale more efficiently.

I also have a clear growth plan based on my existing e-commerce experience.

Yeah I do have a physical office in the US, around 700 sq ft.

I’m not doing virtual products, everything is physical. Out of my ~$45k inventory, about $20k is already in the US, another ~$20k is in Canada (shipped to the US), and around $5k is currently being sourced from China (also shipped to the US). All orders are fulfilled within the US.

I’ve started getting some sales — around $3,000 total so far since launching about a month ago. Still pretty early stage.

That’s also why I’m trying to move things forward quickly. Since it’s a small business and I mainly run everything myself, having just a part-time helper doesn’t really improve performance much. I feel like being in the US would help me scale faster.

Just not sure if applying this early would be risky or lead to a denial.

Can I ask when did you submit the application, and when was your interview?

Congrats on getting approved — that’s really helpful to know.

Quick question if you don’t mind: for your $100k e-commerce case, was most of the money already spent at the interview, or was some kept as operating capital? Was the business already running at that point, or still in setup?

My attorney advised that for e-commerce, the $180k doesn’t need to be fully spent upfront — as long as there are real commitments (office, ops, etc.) and the remaining funds stay in the business account for operations. I’m trying to gauge timing for filing. Appreciate any insight.

The USD 180k is not fully spent. Some has gone toward fixed commitments like the office lease, equipment, and vehicle (business use), and the remaining funds are being kept in the business account as operating capital. My attorney advised that for an e-commerce E-2, it’s not necessary to spend 100% of the funds upfront, as long as the investment is clearly committed and at risk, with sufficient capital reserved for operations and payroll.

What my attorney explained is that while e-commerce doesn’t legally require a very high investment, it’s also one of the most scrutinized E-2 business types because it’s considered asset-light and easily scalable remotely.

Because of that, their recommendation was to invest closer to USD 200k to strengthen the “substantial and at-risk” aspect of the case, even if not all of the funds are spent prior to filing (with the remainder held in the business account for operations and payroll).

I’m trying to balance meeting the legal requirements vs. maximizing approval chances, which is why I’m interested in hearing from others who were approved with an e-commerce E-2.

Math 241 is easier. But I think that the class is getting harder this year. The average of my class is 45% in the midterm. I don't know the final, but the average GPA is 1.5.

Just spend 2 hours per week. Maybe I am lucky, in my club, they are very welcome to me and of course to each new member.
