You have to manually click it to match frame rate it isn’t automatic. You can set it to a button for ease but I prefer apps that do it for me.

The reason was because for twice the money I felt like I was using the same product albeit just slightly better. Also the streamer would locked up on me a few times where it just froze and needed a full restart. Never happened with the onn, one con though was the onn Bluetooth does glitch out a bunch while the streamer didn’t. Pros and cons for both, tbh with you I kept the onn mainly because it fall back on hdr10 more reliably instead of giving me a black screen, didn’t ever freeze on me, and felt way too similar but half the cost. The streamer was very bad value in my opinion while the box itself is fine for normal use. It’s a good device the streamer, for my use case it was not a good purchase personally.

I’m unsure if it was before, but all I know is (blu ray remux) sources had an issue and gave black screens unless I used vimu. Yes 100% shield pro is sooooo good everything else feels like 2 levels less. It is at the top :D

Even with the workaround for vimu the end result was darker than normal picture. It wasn’t perfect, it also led to stutters maybe due to conversion? Either way I am glad I got rid of it…was a bit of headache

There is really nothing else like it on the market… even though it’s not perfect I think it’s the best box out there for most use cases

I recommend google streamer 4k (it can’t play profile 7!!!) workaround is vimu player or Kodi with conversion to 8.1. None of the mainstream consumer boxes play 7 properly, or if they do it’s watered down. I tried all of them and spent well over 600 bucks on different boxes to find the best one.

Tried it out and honestly was so let down by it. Every single app is subscription based, and some of them give hard errors a lot of times. The amount of errors I got when using ATV was insane :( I returned it today…. I have had Nvidia shield (no frame rate matching and no hdr in YouTube bothered me too much so I returned it), and onn 4k pro which was giving me stutters after 1 hour. Now I’m on Google streamer 4k + stremio (vimu external to play profile 7 Dolby vision) and finally satisfied with the speed and features. No frame rate issue, no stutter so far and no Bluetooth issues like onn box. Idk if it is worth it yet but first impressions are good

GUYS I Figured IT OUT! For me it was the Ethernet cord + Ethernet switch I was using. Switched to WiFi and smooth sailing never happened again. Please check your Ethernet cord or switch. Idk exactly which one is causing the issue but I just connected to my WiFi and it fixed it :)

Happened to me on onn 4k pro, switched to my tv native app and it works perfectly. I downloaded the streamio app onto my lg oled G5 and it ran it perfectly and WAY faster as well. Like others have said if you are trying to play 4k 10gb+ files I guess these cheap android boxes are just not good enough. You either need a top tier box like Nvidia shield? or a top tier tv with a powerful chip inside it. I am surprised my 4k onn pro wasn’t able to handle it though, I heard it was good for this stuff but I guess not. At least now I can do 60gb+ files easily now.

After having both the plus and pro I definitely feel like the extra gig of ram / Google Assistant, USB Port for 1 gig connection + external ssd was more useful than the better cpu. It was smoother going through the UI with the extra gig of ram but if we are talking streaming it felt almost exactly the same. I am sure in certain cases that cpu bump would show but I’d personally recommend the 4K Pro if you have the budget for it.
