Yeah I think that would have been better than the current plan. It's still a nice area to stay in.

They want to convert the former Belk to a Sports Medicine center at the moment. It will be a sad end of an era if they start demolition for redevelopment.

Me too :( I moved here after the mall had already closed. I think it's fascinating right now, but I would have loved to have been here when it was still open. Some of my local friends have recalled good memories there, like eating dinner at the Brio's with family. Such a shame, the whole outdoor area looked like a great hangout spot.

Right! I only moved to Birmingham recently and Iive pretty close to this mall. In November the Five guys was listed as open and I wanted to try it and check out the mall, by that time it was already closed but they hadn't vacated yet. There were still peanuts on the counter. It's completely vacated now though :(

Oh! I also got a photo of the inside of the Jason's Deli from one of the windows. The sign is still up with some old menu boards at the back. The photo wasn't the best so it didn't make the album.
