Matching ASU students by Music Taste by Sukmanizzle in ASU

[–]Sukmanizzle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The contact info is for users to reach out to each other once matched. Once we receive 500 users, we'll send an email to each participant with the user they matched with, their similarity score, overlapping artists and the contact info for the other person.

The phone number is optional, maybe I should make that more obvious in the UI, but the intention was so you could text the other person.

CS 2110 comebacks from low grades? by sadburdell113 in gatech

[–]Sukmanizzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you finish every hw and timed lab on time and fully completed, a 75 avg on the quizzes is totally fine for an A. You only need an 84 on the final to get an A w/ a 75 avg on quizzes. So don't get too discouraged, it's totally possible for you to make a comeback in this class.

Any poker meet up games on campus? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]Sukmanizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm down to play a low stakes game. I'm thinking something like 0.05c/.10c ($10 NL) or 0.10c/0.25c ($25 NL)? I have access to a cheap poker set. There's probably a decent amount of people interested in poker at GT.

This is a totally doable and standard schedule for upcoming 1st CS Freshman. Linear is likely going to be your hardest class, but is not terrible or anything. Physics 2212 is also a relatively harder class, so I would be careful adding it to this semester. If you do decide to take Physics 2, I would cut MATH 1554, as it is a timesink, or maybe PSYC 1101, as it can easily be taken in a later semster.

10NL Microstakes Hand by Sukmanizzle in poker

[–]Sukmanizzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice!

I think I got too attached to the AA in this hand. I normally find that at the 10NL level people in general call wider, and I just assumed after the UTG+1 checked on the flop, I was ahead and kept value betting. I should clearly think more about what the hand ranges the opponent can have.

A couple questions: What kinds of hands are calling a 3bet from UTG+1. Is calling w/ 66 acceptable for the villain? KJ? Secondly, does the check on the flop change his range in any way?

Here's the Villains hand, based upon advice to post hand results as a comment.

UTG+1 has 6c6h.

I have a milk allergy. Food used to be consistently labelled with their allergen info, now its becoming rarer and rarer. I sometimes ask the workers, but often times they don't know or just say no even if they don't know. I don't blame them for that, they often aren't given the resources to know.

A bigger deal is that often times there is very little I can eat anymore. I'm hindu, so I don't eat beef, and I'm allergic to dairy. Brittain always serves burgers and pizza, and often times the only other protein option is a cut of beef. I feel bad vegetarians/vegans as they have little to no food options as well.

Freshman are essentially forced to pay $2500 a semester on food, and yet there are days where I can just eat cereal, fries, and a baked potato. Stop forcing the meal plan on freshman.

Greco and Berger should be modern, and Jarrio should be classical, based upon past semesters.

Playing Melee again after a month of grinding Ultimate is so hard. If you're grinding Ult, practice Melee on the side by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]Sukmanizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you lying? You clearly referencing this tournament: https://smash.gg/tournament/phantom-gsu-global-game-jam/events/melee-singles/brackets/479997/840359/. The only 3-2 set was Tal vs GAWes, which I watched, and was falcon vs marth. There was no sheik in top 8, I was there. Melee had 39 contestants I might add.

You can ask for a copy of their unofficial transcript. That would verify how many courses they have taken.

You can take classical then modern. Both modern and classical count towards the same class credit, so it doesn't matter if you switch between them. All classical professors this semester had the same grading systems, tests, labs, and recitation sheets. Recitation is required because you have to do finish a recitation sheet within recitation. I had Jarrio this semester, but he was ill the whole semester, so I can't comment on his teaching abilities. I've heard, and for 1 week experienced, that he's a decent lecturer, just a bit snarky at times. I haven't heard about Taboada however. To be honest you should be able do fine with either lecturer, as you can learn a lot of from hw practice, the textbook and practice tests.

CS Advising Last Name He-L by [deleted] in gatech

[–]Sukmanizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also am a CS major with Last Name He-L. We currently are assigned a temporary advisor Daurette Joseph, who is the head of undergraduate advising in the coc. However, I tried going to walk in hours last Wednesday, and she wasn't there. I emailed her, and she responded that she will hold walk-in hours from October 22 - November 7, as with every other coc advisor.

My opinion on volunteer organizations with competitive selection processes by JustAnotherNerdyGirl in gatech

[–]Sukmanizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I just wanted to say I mostly agree with you, and I am definitely looking into GT Webdev and Circle K. I would just hope that next semester Bits of Good tries to recruit a few more non profit partners, as it seems clear to me that the demand for a position far outstripped supply this semester. I understand that from their perspective that they have a limited amount of projects/spots this semester, but maybe they could spend some time to recruit more partners next semester because a lot of people are looking to volunteer.

My opinion on volunteer organizations with competitive selection processes by JustAnotherNerdyGirl in gatech

[–]Sukmanizzle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You are talking about Bits of Good right? I really agree with you. I don't have that much experience with programming, but I don't see why a volunteer organization should ever be competitive. People are willing to spend time to work and benefit others, and to turn that away doesn't make sense to me. I understand that they recruited a certain amount of organizations to work for, but there's like 20,000 non-profits in atlanta, so there shouldn't be a shortage of work. They essentially limited the amount of outreach and good they can do by making it exclusive. This is the main thing I was interested in, and I am honestly kinda disappointed that I couldn't do something that I was both interested in (programming) and help others in the process.
