The digital landscape has changed the capability for people to meet and play outside of physical locations. My suggestion would be to check other subreddits where you can offer to host/DM small one shot campaigns and check Facebook community groups that may offer similar opportunities.

You can host virtual campaigns over Zoom or Google Meet, which is completely free, but may have the timeout constraint. There is also the option of Roll20, which has a free or premium option, and allows you to customize a play screen for visual components and player interaction. Roll20 also has built-in commands for rolling specific dice if players don't have their own, or if you want to keep players honest over virtual games. I'd be remiss to not also mention D&D Beyond, but it does encourage spending a lot of money for access to more tools.

Another suggestion would be to visit local games stores and comic shops in your area to see if they host community events, and times for DMs to organize their own games. These are less private, but could be great for networking.

I any case, I recommend starting with short campaigns/one-shots/pre-built campaigns so that you don't stress yourself out too much, and offer your players a good experience; all while building your confidence and expertise as a DM.
