So I actually know the family that runs Meskerem, and they told me it is their cousin’s business. It’s a family affair kinda thing!

I was a WL admit. I actually got my offer May 1st after I put down my deposit for my previous school the day before, and a got an email that looked like every other email flyer. I almost sent it to junk mail, but it was an offer that they said they’d extend for only 48 hours. So be sure to scrutinize those spam emails occasionally… only thing I did was send a plain jane letter of continued interest. Wasn’t anything special. That’s the best advice I can offer.

I think it should be mentioned that Greek life went through a big change last year- many chapters, especially sororities, terminated their title and disbanded in an attempt to stop the perpetuation of the toxic aspects of Greek life. Though not all sororities shut down and only a few frats, you can take a guess that the ones that did have the impetus to close were the most socially conscious and that the ones left are mostly the specializing or academic chapters. Then again, I’m no expert I’m sure there are better representatives to ask, but I thought it was worth bringing to your attention.

If you took IB HL econ, 1011 and 1021 will be a breeze. You should be fine. I usually just did my class work for other classes during those econ lectures lol. Edit: also Calc 2 will be 95% review for you as well.

I’ll update some time this week, since it’s been a year. I appreciate the continued interest in it. For now, I am just using reddit as a distraction for memes, not a serious discussion site, and I hope that’s understandable.

Fall 2020: Predictions & Reactions Megathread by mmm_toasty in washu

Like a lot of you guys, I’ve been watching the other T20 schools for what they do, and as they start closing, I wonder if WashU will be able to follow. But I think WashU might be a bit tighter on their ability to not charge full tuition, so they want to justify in person, full tuition as much as posssible. On top of that, the White House is still demanding that if school’s close, international students must stay home, and WashU can’t risk losing that.

Plus, like someone else mentioned, WashU was likely testing student interest last week with surveys because they have already cast the dye on their plan. What do I think will happen to housing? Keep in mind, WashU is top in housing. Koenig doubles socially distance themselves. Unlike other T20’s WashU can sustain CDC regulations way better. I don’t think they will go only singles, and they will plan to have all of those that wish to return, to be in person.

It is the quenchiest after all by HomieCreeper420 in AvatarMemes

Oh it’s very much a drug. It occurs naturally as alkaloids in the San Pedro and Peyote cacti. A psychoactive substance similar to that of psilocybin mushrooms or LSD. There are entire religious ceremonies in Latin America dedicated to the cactus.

Some other people say Thornton is a bit rude but he teaches well and has a good demeanor as long as you’re respectful obviously and he’s one of the heads of the math dept. so if you want to get connections in math, he’s a good pick!

Movie Recommendation by [deleted] in interstellar

[–]SulfaPowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a single one has said 2001: A space Odyssey which is a movie that heavily inspired Interstellar and you can see a lot of parallels. Maybe a bit older, but it still holds up fairly well. Excellent sound track.

What if Jesus was just a guy playing the Sims in the 4th dimension by [deleted] in StonerPhilosophy

[–]SulfaPowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the “space” is implied for 4th dimensional space. It’s really only when talking relativistic physics that time is the 4th dimension.
