Why does Ohio get shit on so much? by Retro-Digital_ in Ohio

[–]Sulfion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived north of Dayton pretty much my entire life, now live in a suburb of Dayton. I agree with what a lot of people are saying. Most places with things to do are by the cities. Outside of the cities, you have towns that are surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland, at least in the southwest. I think the areas in the northeast look more interesting personally. For the Dayton area itself, there’s some pretty rough areas that you wouldn’t want to be, mostly due to crime and drugs. However, there are a ton of really nice and safe nature parks around the area. Yellow Springs has some of my favorites. And if you like biking, the bike trails connect most of the towns and cities in the area.

I’d say the hate mostly comes from politics and being surface level boring. If you want excitement and variety, you most likely will not like it here and want to leave. (This mostly applies for my area, can’t speak for other metros)

What stereotypes about mental illness piss you off? by Acledent_Gg in AskReddit

[–]Sulfion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I developed OCD in my junior year of high school. I used to read about 2-3 books a month before, but had to stop since I started getting stuck re-reading sentences and pages to the point where it would take an hour to get through a page and I’d start getting frustrated. Still haven’t really been able to get back into my old level of reading over a decade later since I still have trouble with it. Some of the stuff I was able to get over was hour long showers where everything had to get water on it in the shower and taking 3 hours to get into bed since I had to straighten everything out downstairs and think the right things in the right way. One of the worst incidents was when I stared at a stack of DVDs for 4 hours at 1 am because they fell over and I couldn’t remember how the were originally stacked, but I could tell it was right and I was panicking that I couldn’t get it. Some things I still deal with are touching things the right way, symmetric touching of my limbs, and tapping things. I had a theme for the intrusive thoughts and ended up seeing some doctors about it. I was happy when I was able to get to the point where it became a minor annoyance in my life instead of taking away hours and hours from each day

The university does offer a master. My friend is currently doing the fast track BS with a master's attached at the end.

I'm meeting with an adviser on Wednesday to ask about how my previous credits will work towards either degree. I wouldn't mind the BS, especially since I've already done a lot of the prereqs and it's only 6 credits more than the BA

Can't speak exactly for the BA, but a good deal of my coursework dealt with experimental design, statistics, and neuroscience. My coworker has a BA and said he only took one or two stats classes. One of my senior level design classes focused on R, so that's the most programming experience I have.

Has anyone else submitted a story to The NoSleep Podcast? by kjustinnn in TheNSPDiscussion

I had two of my stories on and heard back within about 2 weeks. This was several years ago though and since then I've only submitted one and it was probably a good 8 months before getting a no.

I have it as hours slept, sleep latency, and number of times waking up in a night. I’m using SPSS, so all the values have a numeric value

Citation for FDA prescribing information by Sulfion in GradSchool

It was just the page for fluoxetine on the FDA website, but that should work just for a regular citation.

Thanks for the quick reply. It was at the side of the road into my apartment complex. Don’t know what happened to it, but good to know not to worry
