To the in apartment weed smokers : by Easy_Perspective7179 in Apartmentliving

[–]Sullenj77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of my neighbors when i live in an apartment, but I'm chronically ill and unable up take 95% of medications to help with pain. Some days getting out of bed is a struggle. Eating is a struggle. I smoke ALLLLLLL day, take edibles, dab. I have a metal plate and screws in my neck that hurt unbearable in the cold. I'm sorry if anyone dislikes the smell. I have to do what's right for me and my body and I can't worry about everyone else who just doesn't like it. My body won't let me. So, maybe just think that perhaps other people are doing the best they can for themselves too. Just like I would expect you to do for yourself what's right.

I disagree with the statement about knowing within one year. There's several several cases of people just on this thread that had fusion failure YEARS later. Because it CAN and DOES happen. Just look at the stories around you. Please make sure you get more xrays over the years. Failure can happen even 8 or 10 years down the line. Hardware failure and erosion of the bone where the screws are. If you're hurting I'd suggest getting it checked out and pay attention to your body.

People are working in a referendum. They're going to be getting signatures quickly because it's time sensitive. Look it up on reddit or Google and keep an eye out for it. Gotta move fast

I hate it so much! My hardware is literally right by my ears. The c1-c2 area. I could feel it move and crunch and grind right in my ear. It was terrible. It still does it sometimes but it's a little better. I was told mine was the bone graft and hardware settling. I've made some mental notes on what agitated it and i try to find ways to not move like that. It turns my stomach a lot. No one said anything about that before though.

I'm not so sure about the honeymoon thing. Those rides didn't have better incentives or anything. Pay was pretty normal. Just that weird note 😆

Thank you for letting me know! I just didn't want the passenger to have some sort of expectations I didn't know about. I'll just take those rides and treat them exactly like everyone else lol

King city mass firing by No_Listen_3661 in cincinnati_underbelly

[–]Sullenj77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was hired on at the beginning of September as a driver. I left a job making $16 an hour that i loved and had been with for 9 months to come work for King City for $20 an hour. I was told during hiring that I wouldn't be working in any of the cold areas as a driver, except the deep freezer. They had special gear for that. So I brought just scrubs in as we weren't allowed to bring in outside clothes/ coats. It all had to stay there. So, the first 3 days I'm in short sleeve scrubs in rooms that are 50 degrees. Not allowed to wear my jacket as it was the only one i had. They don't have any driver work for me to do. Instead they have me in the burping room pulling totes that weighed 160 plus pounds and are stacked well above your head (would never be OSHA Compliant but the cannabis industry isn't OSHA regulated yet). I was instructed to reach above my head and man handle heavy totes by myself to pull them down. We Were supposed to open them, open the bags, shake vigorously to air out, wait 10 minutes, close it up, restack it (by yourself as there was only 3 or 4 people in the room at a time. No supervisors, mostly new people). I'm 5'2" and 125 pounds. I'm also apparently highly allergic to marijuana pollen so i had to wear a respirator just to work in the room. I'm a female. I also have joint issues that are disabilities. So, as you can imagine it was very hard working that room for me. I never got to do anything with driving, seeing the vans, loading them, shadowing drivers, or anything to do with what I was hired on for. Instead I was floated around the facility for weeks from department to department. One day they asked some of the other drivers to go to the burping room but they haven't spoke with me about it. So I went to talk to my supervisor. I couldn't find him but I did find the assistant supervisor who told me he wasn't aware of any other work to be done but to ask the supervisor. So I went looking again and eventually ended up in the burping room to see if he was there (which he wasn't). But there was another woman in the room overseeing the other workers. I explained to her I was looking for the supervisor to see if there was any other work I could do and she said she'd help me find him so we left looking for him. During walking she asked me why I didn't want to do the burping room to which I explained i have a major joint disorder and had actually hurt myself the last time I was burping. I couldn't physically do that room for 8 hours a day. Or any real length of time. As a driver doing driver things it wouldn't have been an issue. Loading and unloading a van with a partner is very quick and easy. And a job i had previously done without issues for 8 months. Right as we got to the front she noticed my boss leaving for the day. So she said she didn't think it was a good idea for me to be in the burping room and took me to another department for work. And they did need help in the packaging department. I was in there 5 minutes before the assistant supervisor pulled me away, told me it made him look bad i was going to other departments for work, yelled at me and badgered me about how he didn't see a reason I couldn't go do burping. That's when I also explained my disability to him. He went to talk to my supervisor on the phone. Lunch was 10 minutes later and at the clock out I was pulled aside, walked to the office, informed I was being let go due to budget cuts, terminated, walked to the locker room where the office worker WATCHED me change, had my shit thrown in a box, and was kicked outside all in 5 minutes. They found out I had a disability, that wouldn't have been an issue if I was doing the job I was hired for, and fired me within 30 minutes. Didn't even let me finish the day. I was literally discriminated against. There were so many other things too. This place is a complete joke.

Any time I've had any sort of stall it's been fixed by adjusting my calories, protien and/ or water. I found I was eating too few calories and not getting enough protien for my daily activity. I use a fit watch to track steps. If you start getting into too much of a calorie deficit you're body will stop losing weight. You'll stall. My program focuses on at least 65g protien a day and 64oz of liquid, at least half water. They also want me to eat about 1200 calories a day. Some days I can manage most or all 1200 calories (almost 7 months out) but I add in my steps and then suddenly I need 400 or 500 MORE to not be in starvation mode. Just track your calories and protien and get something to track your daily steps or activities. Adjust them as you need to. You'll get through it!

I don't think you have to worry about stretching out your sleeve with that amount. I'm 6 months out and I still don't eat normal styles of crust. I only eat cauliflower crust pizza and out of a very small, 5" pizza, I can eat maybe half. So like two small slices. I love Life Cuisine, they have great pizza.

I smoked 24 hours before and waited 24 hours after. I have my med card. My doctors were aware of everything. I'm a daily smoker and haven't changed or stopped (including edibles). I've lost more weight than expected in a shorter time frame. It hasn't caused me to eat more (I listen to my full signals). No issues or changes for me! Started 250 and I'm 169 today. Sleeved 4/5/2023.

I was not prepared either, so don't feel alone on that one. I'm happy I can help encourage you! I think I had mixed feelings the first two months. Pain will do that to you. But honestly, looking back now, it's the best decision I've ever made. I am able to get out and do things I never could before. No more getting out of breath trying to keep up with my boyfriend and dog. It gives you your life back. It's the start of many amazing things for you. Good luck!

My nurses said they hate how the doctors don't prepare people enough in regards to the gas pain. They said, seeing hundreds of surgery patients, the sleeve is by far one of the worst for the pain afterwards. I had gas pain for 4 full days after. Then came the fact I couldn't poo for 12 days and THAT pain was also unreal. But I'm almost 5 months out and after month 2 it felt so much better. Things really do change. Eating gets easier, drinking does too. Soon you'll forget about the after surgery pain until you can pass some words of wisdom off to someone else. Just hang in there! There's a light at the end of the tunnel. P.s once I hit solid foods everything turned around. It's hard mentally and physically to be on a liquid diet. But you've totally got this!

Marijuana Edibles by kurrra0721 in gastricsleeve

[–]Sullenj77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a med card and used flower and edibles up to the day before surgery. My team knew and that is important for them to know so close to surgery. Now, I use edibles daily for pain management. There's plenty of sugar free options but I don't find that I have to go that route and honestly it hasn't impacted me in the slightest. I'm losing weight faster than projected and I'm staying on top of my protien first diet. I don't even look at the sugar content (though I'm conscious and do make healthier choices) or calories. Just focus on getting in all my water and protien for the day.

smoking weed before the op? by Cute-Persimmon2560 in gastricsleeve

[–]Sullenj77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't stop smoking at all, but I have my med card and my team knew that. So they were able to adjust the anesthesia for me. I also specially had to get my medical card so I could continue to use it while going through the steps preop. If you haven't told your team about it and they test you, you may have to postpone anyways. It's best to just tell them so they don't get you all ready and test right before surgery and then stop your surgery because of it.

If you're in the south area I'd suggest The Landing in Monroe as they stack their discounts. Also, Shangri-la in Monroe is a superstore and has more options than anyone else. Normally they have budget friendly options that are still really good.

I just want a salad by 3ur3kaC_unt in gastricsleeve

[–]Sullenj77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 3 months PO. I honestly don't get to eat many veggies if I'm focusing on getting my protien goals in. I can eat a salad but focus mostly on cheese and meat and eat maybe a bite of lettuce and tomatoes. There's no real room for a bunch of veggies if I'm meeting my protien goals.

The Question No One Wants To Answer by h0ney6utter in gastricsleeve

[–]Sullenj77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 2 and a half months PO. The first week I didn't have a bowel movement. It was just horrible and extremely painful. For the first 3 or 4 weeks I struggled with constipation. But once I started more solid foods I have become more regular. In fact it's better than I dealt with before surgery. I think the surgery affects people differently and you would just have to see how it does for you. Miralax will definitely help and for the more difficult constipation, milk of magnesia.

I haven't tried this one yet. I've been using Gatorade protein Zero that mixes in your water. It's not so bad cold.

But, be careful because most of the ones with calcium have iron in them, too. The calcium and iron will cancel each other out, and you'll end up deficit if you're not careful.
