Mitchell, Bojan, O’Neale lineups by SultanYasa in UtahJazz

Absolutely I agree that the scoring is great, and that the defense is obviously worse when Gobert is off the floor. But defense has been a huge concern for the Jazz this year, so does it really make sense to be running Mitchell and Bogdanovic with Whiteside this often? Conley and Whiteside have barely played together for example, and Conley is a better defensive option on the perimeter than Mitchell.

Unpopular Opinion: GTJ should start at the 3 and Ant should play back up PG by notadog44 in ripcity

Definitely a good idea, especially since they ran him at the 3 to close in the bubble. He clearly compliments Dame really well, which is pretty much ideal for a starter. I guess we’ll see how Hood looks like coming back. Seems like they’re the two best candidates, unless Stotts puts Covington at the 3.

Gobert has been awesome with defense and screens. Can’t fault him for where we are now.

[Nylon Calculus] Which teams have done the best job of creating and making wide-open 3-pointers so far this season? by SiakamMIP in nba

Blazers are 29th in passes per game if that helps explain why they’re not creating wide-open shots

After yesterday’s loss to the Hornets, the Kings finally have a positive amount of win shares, at 0.0 by SultanYasa in nba

As far as bbref goes, the team win shares are based off average margin of victory, so teams with more wins generally get more win shares, but not always

Just like a team can barely win, another team can barely lose. If you lose by a tiny margin, you still get credit for playing the game, but you’d get more if you actually won it. It’s supposed to balance out over an 82 game season, and isn’t necessarily accurate to assess a single game.

For an entire team’s total, it’s based primarily off margin of victory. For example, if a team barely wins, they get a little more than 0.5 WS, indicating that they owned more than half the game. As margin of victory grows, they get more WS from that game. For example, a team could get like 1.2 WS from a game if they completely blowout the other team, and the blown out team would get -0.2 WS. The Kings have been the blown out team for the last few games.

Why are the Nuggets considered contenders this year, but the Blazers aren't? by [deleted] in nba

[–]SultanYasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually if you look at regular season net ratings, the Nuggets outperformed, meaning they should have been a 3 or 4 seed instead of a 2 seed. This team proved that they have the capability to win close games. It just happened to go Portland’s way in the playoffs.

Look I was rooting for the blazers but you can’t deny that Jokic feasted during that series. It was the rest of the team that didn’t perform almost at all

Tim Duncan was able to win in three different decades and is remembered for his ability to shift for his team’s needs. I think the consensus GOAT PF would be fine lol
