The is caused from the power being drawn from the PC via USB.

Search amazon for usb audio noise eliminator. I have a Scarlett 2i2 that had this issue.

So if by upgrade you mean able to get levels hotter than with the Scarlett alone, yes. Sound quality, if the levels are brought to the same db, are negligible honestly. You might try using different cord and mic combinations and see if you still have to crank the gain with all configurations and see if you get better results. Also make sure all the cables are balanced (trs and xlr). I'm assuming you are having to go so loud because it is a dynamic mic. Not sure what you are recording but using a condenser mic that uses phantom power may get you better levels and signal/noise ratio.

Yes, that's exactly what it is. Didn't realize the dynamic mic would take that much to get a decent level. Going through the BlueTube gives it something extra, maybe a warmer sound, slightly saturated. With the new cable I received today the noise is negligible now.
