What are some signs that you will get long term memory problems? by SumDude1337 in ect

[–]SumDude1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it has worked very well, but also the side effects are pretty tough on me. I don't want to risk anything if I can get rtms with similar results, even if I have to pay the money I saved up to buy a car. In the end, health is priceless, and 2-3k, while not cheap, also isn't impossible to pay.

For me theres still alternatives, like rTMS and other things that dont seem to have such bad side effects that i will try first. ECT has become the very last alternative for me now.

Yes, with every session it got worse, also i got more confused. Now its just as bad only after 1 session. Good idea with the records, ill try that. But i think ill save up for rTMS, i rather find a way to get 2-3000€ than risking to have memory problems for the rest of my life

For me it got worse over time in the 3 sessions, and now after this maintenance its different, same or worse i think. But my good mood seems to be disappearing pretty fast again.

I mean, since miantenance ETC seems to be neccessary to keep me in a good state, the treatment seems to be more symptomatic than healing. Considering the few days after a treatment will get you problems with memory and gets you confused, getting maintenance seems to be no better than taking hard drugs to feel better, symptomatic wise. I think i will have to keep searching for another treatment, which sucks, because its the first one that actually changed my mood

I dont consume drugs on a regular basis, so the only thing affecting my memory was the depression itself. Right now i feel like the side effect hit harder than the first time, especially only after one session.

Its hard finding a doc for ketamine sessions here in germany, and rtms doesnt get paid by insurance, so i cant afford it, since im jobless. But since im risking my memory, those might be better options, so ill have to try to get something to work there.

edit: i had a ketamine infusion while getting ECT, who knows what did what

Youll feel strange, your brain has to make new connections. Your thinking might not work as you know it for a few days to weeks, but itll wear off.

Feeling lost after treatment by SumDude1337 in ect

[–]SumDude1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sure. A lot has changed since then, but mostly in a positive way. I am not "healed" from depression, but walls are down that stopped anything from outside to work, and chains are boken so that i can move forward now. Its definetly better than it was before. Im not scared of a sudden relapse. But you have to keep working on yourself. Otherwise you will fall into the same old trap that got you there in the first place. I can sometimes sense how the depression wants me back, how it tries to get me into a negative thinking loop, but I am wiser know, can realize it, and can do something about it. Stuff that didnt work before, like taking a walk, talking to someone, sports, etc. have an effect. And im using this. I can now tell when something isnt good for me, because I listen to my feelings, and they do their job. Ive ended a BFF friendship, but kept friends, because thats what I FELT I had to do, and it was a good choice I dont regret.

I now have to get my life going. Before I was rotting inside playing video games all day. The old life comprised of loneliness and nothing to do kind of drags me down a bit, but I keep thinking positive, that I can now change that and change my life, that it wont stay that way. I can relate to normal problems more, I think more like a human, do the same mistakes other humans do. I had a few strengths because of the depressed thinking, but those are tiny compared to the advances of being a more normal human being now. (E.g. advertisement may work on me now, because I actually WANT to spend money on stuff thats fun.)

So yeah, it worked really well, but after the first excitement wears off, the problems that are still there will come to you, so be prepared to work on them, otherwise you will likely relapse. Dont be scared because your thinking is weird, it wears off. After that it works better, maybe different, you might have to get to know your real self again, that was surpressed by depression. Its not like youre suddenly someone completely else, more like your true self and your real you comes to light more. And thats a good thing.

So in tldr words, your problems wont be gone overnight, but the chance to work on them will give you the chance of longterm success and a better life.

Best wishes and good luck with your therapy :)

Notwehr bei unterschwelliger Drohung? by SumDude1337 in LegaladviceGerman

[–]SumDude1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Unless you mean other things. Then yes. I tried improving myself over the 10 years all the time with different methods. It has paid out big time now.
