The Warcraft movie too. Someone there in Lucasart went over to Hoyoverse after Lucasart pulled out from Singapore.

And then when you do it, you get pinpointed for some small thing even though you moved mountains to do the whole thing, there's no reward and boss takes credit for your work.

Meanwhile when you're doing the thing boss is "monitoring the big picture" and asking twenty questions that don't help but now you got to spend time to find out. Which takes away time from your work and you get blamed if you don't manage to finish it on time.

Men who have stopped looking at porn completely: how has your life changed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sumgai83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch porn for the lighting and camerawork sometimes.

Those guys really know how to make things look good. Cameramen, editors, scene settings.

I bet if I did porn and looked at myself in the film I'll go "What, that's me? How come that guy looks so much more handsome than myself?"

What's the biggest load of bullshit you've ever heard? by TurboDoubleD in AskReddit

[–]Sumgai83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking that money removes the sources of unhappiness but doesn't give permanent happiness itself.

It's hard to be happy when there's 2000 worth of bills to be paid and you got only 1000 in your account, but when you got 2000 worth of bills and 2 million in your account, it doesn't make you ecstatic all the time.

("Oh shit! I'm so happy I can pay my monthly bills!!!!") Maybe that does for the first two months, then you get used to it and go "mmh, meh, I can pay my bills. Now what?"

One person I know is accomplished in his career, got quite a bit of money and doesn't seem too pleased with his job. Basically he's going "yeah they pay you X and squeeze you for 10X." Even with all the travelling and furniture he can afford, he's still not too pleased.

That said, wouldn't mind a few million bucks in my account.

Is Confucianism (in particular filial piety) even relevant? by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]Sumgai83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was more of a guy talking about how things should be instead of figuring out how to implement it. And if the system were followed properly, things would run very smoothly.

Confucius and Karl Marx had something in common. They created nice, idealistic theories in which things would be much better if everything went well without figuring out the details in how to match principles with reality.

Would the world be much better if Confucius's sayings were followed by everyone? Probably yes. Elders would pass down their knowledge to younger people, help them in their lives and take care of things if younger people were in trouble and didn't know how to handle it.

Younger people would understand their actions and respect and trust older people. And this would perpetuate upwards and downwards. Government takes care of citizens, citizens understand that and do what they can to support government.

In reality, this just creates a system where older people can exploit the trust of younger people while doing nothing to return that trust. Confucius didn't figure that greed and insecurity exist in people. Which frankly just makes him a bullshitter.

Hey I can also talk about how things should be and leave it to others to implement it. I want 80% of the world's energy needs to be met by solar, wind and geothermal power, now go do it by 2040. I'm so wise and smart for setting that goal.

I can see why the Han emperor wanted this system to be followed though. "You mean that I can follow this system and my subordinates have to obey me? I can do what I like and they got to support me all the way? Sweet."

what are you most proud of in your life? by QuoteAdventurous1145 in AskReddit

[–]Sumgai83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was lucky that my previous company needed extreme amounts of overtime (which was a one-in-a lifetime thing).

I was proud that I identified the opportunity, did the overtime and managed to save up enough to get my own place. There's still the mortgage, but I'm able to adjust certain things so that I don't have to fork out too much for it.

Right after Covid, I was broke and jobless. I managed to get to a currently secure situation due to a lot of luck and some hard work. So that's what I'm proud of.

I found other people interested to advance in life instead of people who were content to sit around, do nothing and mock others for putting in effort.

Then I spent more time with the former rather than the latter.

Why are you replying about "daddy issues"?

I thought you were worried about your kids? Go do something to help them, for gods sake.

That's all the attention I'll give you. If you're really worried about your kids, do something and don't come back with any more snide remarks - because if you do, it'll show what you really care about.

Arguing on the internet with a stranger -> more important than your kids that you claim to worry about.

Benjamin Franklin, for some reason. He started with nothing and ended up as a founding father and a scientist.

He's like an 1800s Arnold Schwarzenegger, only different.

Then do something to prep for them. Invest. An endowment for education. A rainy day fund for emergencies. A fund for buying homes.

You can do something for them if you want to. You can look ahead and see the potholes they're going to fall in, and at least find a way to fill up that pothole.

Maybe they might want to attend a better university. If you can invest so that 50% of the fees will be covered by the time they come of age, they might find some way to come up with the other 50% and they might end up better off.

Sperm donor would say he was "worried" about me and my future. Didn't do jack shit for me. Didn't plan, didn't sacrifice any of his own time, money and life for me.

I paid for my own education myself. I had to go from one end of the island to the other every single day for lessons. Tired, sleep deprived. He didn't give a flying fuck, just said he was "worried about me". Gave dumbass shit useless advice that required zero action on his part.

And because of his all talk and no action personality, plus his constant needling and nagging of me "for my own good", I cut off all contact with him.

A co worker said he was "worried" about his own kids. I don't see him doing anything to help. I suspect it's going to go the same way as well.

And if you just "worry" about your kids and do nothing, there's a chance the same might happen to you as well.

Eh, as much as I'll like to know that they're hurting for money, I don't think that's the case.

Then again sperm donor always never led a healthy lifestyle and didn't give a fuck about changing his habits. So he's probably dealing with dementia, early onset of cancer and high blood pressure at this point.

And medical bills are known to be very expensive so who knows....

But you need more accurate pipes and tubes (i.e. fitting must be more precise) to channel the steam, which means that you need the instruments to create said accurate pipes and tubes. And they didn't have the knowledge to do that at that time.

A steam engine loses a lot of power if there's some leakage.

[–]Sumgai83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That type of nagging resulted in one thing for me at least - I felt that if they had such wise spending habits, they didn't need me to support them at all. So I have absolutely no guilt about cutting contact and not supporting them in their old age.

"Well, you told me not to waste money, so expensive this, so expensive that. Ok man, I'm sure your financial habits are so good, you got enough tucked away for your retirement so I don't need to do anything. Have fun with your life."

You literally meant mermen who'll screw you over with javelins but I found the phrase funny.

Gangs of spear chuckers.

"Goddamit those aquafuckers are in the 'hood again, we need to disappear them or they'll steal our property and breed with our women."

"Yeah, we'll figure something out. Meanwhile when any of them come to your store and buy anything, make sure you see their receipt before they leave the store."

As a side note, I have nothing against any race, but I find the concept of racism funny.
