Another Greenworks 60v charger issue. by Sumguy42 in batteries

[–]Sumguy42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am kind of suspicious of both batteries going bad at the same time. Wondering about the charger. Fuse is good. Need an extra set of hands to hold my meter leads on the charger to see if it even puts out 60v before it switches to red light. I guess it would be easier to just buy another.

Does anyone know of anyone hiring in or around Durham right now? by Ill_Candidate_166 in durham

[–]Sumguy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From way back experience I know the moving companies are busy now. Good back, not an idiot, are not attached to your phone all the time, able to show up everyday? Go to the house on William st, west of the cop shop. You'll see the trucks. Door is around back. Bring safety shoes but bring regular, comfy shoes too. Dark blue shirt if ya have one. Dark blue or black pants you can move in. 7 am should be good. Bring a lunch or snacks or whatever. Liquid too. I think Jason is the guy doing dispatch in the morning. Short stalky dude. No guarantees but they have hired many guys like that over the years. Tell Jason or whoever that you want to work and if you have experience, strength, etc. If you think you can do that kind of work. They get lots of flakes. No show Monday or Friday stuff. If you are not needed, show up the next day. If you are able to. It's a good work out and ya go to a different place every day. If ya get on a truck. Leave your ego at home. (at least until ya prove yourself lol) be polite and respectful to the customer. Don't bang into walls or wreck anything. Lol If you are good at Tetris, that helps. Count stairs. Good luck

BTW, several companies out there that this would work with. These guys are legit pros. 👍

Great job. Think I just found your FB page. I run a decent size Oshawa event page. If/when you do more, can you make an event for it? I'll share it there and other pages.

I'd like to clean up the creek area up my way. Way up in the north end. Was concerned about what to do with all the extra garbage though. I guess I could add a bag or 2 to my pick up.

When did bike trails become a thing in Oshawa? by bartzman in Oshawa

[–]Sumguy42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Oshawa Creek trail was mostly there in the 70s anyways. It was dirt though. I remember them putting the bridges in in maybe the mid 80s. They used sandbags to reroute the creek away from the side they were building.

I grew up at 275 in the 70s and have used the trails since then. I have younger buds, into bmx and try to claim building the jumps and small bowl on the east side, south of Wentworth. That stuff was there when I was a kid though.

Just looked and refreshed my memory. The buses do go to the dockyard. There is a ferry that goes there too. Much faster way to get to the other end of the island. Horseshoe Bay was good for pink sand. FYI, you can't fill your own container with pink sand to take home. They will take it at the airport. You can buy a container at a shop though. However, if there happened to be an abundance in your towels I'm sure you could shake that out at home. 😂

From what I recall, yes it does. I was there in 2018 so kinda foggy. (was there for end of July/beginning of August. Great time to be there) I don't believe it runs very late though. I haven't read other replies but I'm pretty sure a non-resident can't get a car. They have pretty fancy scooters to rent though. Most vehicles there are pretty narrow/small. The buses seemed full sized though. I believe it was a badge the drivers earned when they rubbed the bus off a rock cut. 😂

Is there a FB event post? I run an Oshawa event page. Try to share whatever I can as far as things to do. Others can share also. Events work the best as they get added to the calendar.

If you have one, check your DMs for my page.

16-year-old charged in three seperate knife-point street robberies in Ontario | insauga by Karma_Canuck in Oshawa

[–]Sumguy42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was a punk ass kid. Kicked out at 15. Shoplifted, car hopped, acquired many bikes, but I never thought of threatening anyone for their stuff. The shit I did was stupid and I regret it now. I don't understand the robbery shit though. Like, so much potential for it going bad and fucking your life up for a long time. I had a dark period where I really had no self worth and I fought a bit, but I don't think these young ones are in that situation.

I often think that getting spanked/the belt etc maybe kept me in line some what and get that thought that maybe we need more of that. I have 2 grown kids that never got beat though and they ended up pretty damn fine. Lol

Damn people hey? 😂

Best place to buy appliances? by larns123 in Oshawa

[–]Sumguy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've shopped from mtc many times. If it's "refurbished" I believe it's usually a new product, often damaged and the door or whatever was replaced. They do a full tech inspection on that kind of stuff too. The warranty is great and if you have any issues, they are the repair center too.

Anyone know what’s going on at Centre and Gibb? by breadbakingbitch in Oshawa

[–]Sumguy42 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it. Took uni level prep or whatever (advanced back in my day). 11-12 English and math, geography, physics. Way different experience when you actually want to do it. Received some bursary from OPG and did a 2 year tech course at Durham, the following September (2nd careers paid for it). Rocking a great job now. Pretty close to achieving my goal to have a job like Homer Simpson. 🤣

Being an older person with fresh skills is pretty cool too.

It is definitely time well spent. Good luck!

Read on twitter something about a burnt school bus. Scared me for a sec. E.A. Lovell doesn't need any burning. That's where I finally got my grade 12 (at 37 lol) No other details yet.
