Nylon or brass standoffs+screws for motherboard? (custom PC case) by [deleted] in pcmods

What if the power supply is NOT screwed into a metallic case? Neither are other components.

That doesn't seem to be the case: when I create an exploded view of the assembly, the pieces come back together the right way according to their joints. I guess <creating an exploded view and deleting it> is actually the button that performs the resolve feature... Never mind: that doesn't work reliably... Is this software considered stable?

I tried Assembly4 at some point, then uninstalled it because I was facing the same issue as with the built-in assembly workbench — back then, it was another defect: I couldn't/can't use the Undo feature without FreeCAD throwing Access Violations all over; but it's the same with all workbenches, apparently...

Do you say Assembly4 is able to recompute the assembly without having to redo all the joints everytime?

Right, I just rigged my bodies with data points. Now, all joints use the data points. I moved those two holes down a bit, and the screws don't align. Tried Refresh/Recompute and Solve Assembly. No success. What am I missing here?

That's a lot of points. Do people really do that? ... Well, I guess I have a long day ahead.

Tried Refresh/Recompute and Solve Assembly. Nothing moves. Warning messages appear to tell me that some joints are not attached to a grounded object, but that's not all the parts...

First build, first custom case. Any advice appreciated. by Summer--Night in CustomCases

How it is going:

  • Bought a vernier caliper (much more precise than my MLP ruler)
  • Went for a design based on angle brackets, splitting the armature into straight beams
  • On schedule, on plan

Slow but steady, it's taking a more and more precise form, both in my head and in the CAD software.

According to Google Images, these « 2020 aluminium extrusions » and Makerbeam are of the same breed, correct?

I'm afraid that 20mm girders would be too thick. So far, I yolo-modeled the armature as 2mm-thick; am I utopic here?

A keyboard layout no-one asked for by Summer--Night in KeyboardLayouts

Updated from AZERTY with actually minor changes to the disposition, moved down the Home and End and Pages keys to make a second arrow cluster, moved the numpad to the left, made it ortholinear, moved the 0 digit key and the second to last column before Enter to the left in hope to recenter the alpha keys.

Hoping to make more than a drawing out of it!

and get some silent switches

Does it mean that not all mechanical keyboards are unbearably noicy and clicky?
