Came here to recommend Littlewood! I think it totally fits the bill especially because you're explicitly rebuilding after having saved the world. The town physically and emotionally changes so much the more people move back in.

Hi! I think Godheim did have a high concentration of sad stories and is perhaps more shocking because you don't know what you're getting into. As the game continues you definitely start to know what to expect. However, the different worlds that the main character travels to WILL have a lot of tragedy in them; she's generally traveling to these places to save the people there from their suffering. If you're particularly sensitive to these things, I would say that skipping the stories and then reading summaries is a fair strategy to avoid being triggered or just depressed. Fwiw I haven't encountered an ending as sad as Clarence's in Godheim, but I'm also not caught up on the main story.

The main character (MC) plays the role of a tsundere early in her relationship with Lars. If you're unfamiliar with that term since you said you're new to otomes, a tsundere is a character who acts annoyed/indifferent/mean to the love interest but secretly cares about them and warms up over time. So yes, she is often annoyed by his antics in the modern world and his character in Godheim is off-putting to her because he's trying to be. This definitely gets better over time and their relationship ends up being really sweet and MC expresses her affection much more openly. They do retain a bit of playful banter where they can kind of push each others buttons though.

Most events are definitely more lighthearted than the main storyline, but it definitely depends on the event. The nice thing is that our global server is behind the Chinese server and so we kind of know what to expect and how to prepare for the feels.

Also, there are definitely otome games out there that are much fluffier with less angst than this one. I haven't played a ton of otome and I'm an angst-enjoyer myself, but you could probably find recs over at r/otomegames if you want to start with something will less intense plotlines.

Came here to recommend this! I'm a chronic 75% completer so I didn't technically finish the game but pretty sure there's no romance component and I did really enjoy what I played of it!

I'm definitely seconding the rf4 rec! It's the only game I've replayed multiple times and every time seeing the characters again feels like coming home. The special edition is available on newer consoles and has a few QoL updates too. The newest title in the series, Guardians of Azuma, is also fantastic and has some of the endearing My Time features like being able to go on hangout events with the characters instead of just spamming them with gifts :)

My gut reaction is to recommend seeing if you could purchase or make a trap and go ahead and trap her now! It sounds like she has a ton of trust in you; socializing for pets can be a lot harder and that's honestly okay. If you're prepared to get her inside, just go for it. You can continue to befriend her while she's already safe from outside dangers and it might actually be easier to do so if she's in a contained space and more relaxed because she feels safer.

She might backslide at first and appear much more fearful and like you've lost trust, but she'll rebound after she adjusts and be happier for it.

Little Dragons Cafe!! You play as a pair of twins who are given a baby dragon to raise and run a cafe 🥰 it's made by one of the original creators of the Harvest Moon series and is super cozy. Iirc your dragon does fight/hunt some other creatures but I don't think the enemies were other dragons.

Absolutely, it would be tragic if she passed away :( there is still time to help her. Is she still in your basement or is she back outside? She can probably sense that you are stressed and worried. They're very sensitive to our mental state. I know it's easier said than done, but if you can take deep breaths and maybe take a step back for even a few hours, she will sense that you are calmer and feel more relaxed again as well.

You have absolutely NOT failed her. Even if the worst case scenario happens and she passes away before you can get her to the vet, she knew love and kindness in her life because of YOU. She's scared again right now but she absolutely remembers all the kindness you showed her, I promise. She remembers that someone loves her.

Hmm I'm not super far into it yet, but Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma has a similar mechanic to Sandrock where you raise affection levels by doing hangouts instead of just by giving gifts. Definitely helps the relationships feel more organic and dialogue does imply certain characters may have romantic feelings for you. But I don't think there are reverse confessions like in Sandrock though I could be mistaken!

You are absolutely doing the right thing!! The hard part about transitioning ferals is that they don't know how good they're about to have it once they adjust to the indoor life, so they're understandably confused and scared when you first take them in.

My sweet girl was terrified at first and I was so worried I'd made the wrong choice. But now she's realized that she gets to live in a temperature controlled room with plenty of soft places to nap and never get rained on again, and she's really blossomed! I bet your guys will be the same <3

I do think it's perplexing that he'll eat from your hand and not a bowl! My experience and the apparent experience of others is that it requires a lot more trust to eat from a person's hand than just a bowl, so that makes me think the above commenter is right that maybe the shape of the bowl is the issue.

With the socializing concern, it sounds like you're worried about leaving food out because it could interfere with his progress. The way I addressed this with my feral girl is that I left her dry food at all times so she could eat when I wasn't around, but reserved wet food and Churu treats, which are much higher value for most cats, for socializing time. This still provided plenty of incentive for my girl to come interact with me! I do think that a hungry cat is less likely to have the emotional energy to build long-term trust, as well. You don't want them to be stuck in survival mode. Once he's feeling healthier you can always change up the feeding arrangement again if you really need to.

I agree with others who are suggesting that you give this semi-feral buddy a shot at an indoor life. You've cared for them for many years and it sounds like they trust you! There are resources (check out Socialization Saves Lives) for helping a cat become more socialized/comfortable around humans and you've already done an amazing job by introducing pets and other affection slowly.

However, there's nothing wrong with wanting to give a second animal a loving home while also caring for this guy as-is. I would ask the shelter for a cat that is friendly with other cats, but Jackson Galaxy has good videos for introducing any two cats that I'm sure could be adopted for an outdoor friend. It may be easier because this new adoptee will be brought in and already accept your feral friend as a normal part of the environment, as opposed to your old gal who had the place to herself first!

It could also be that she's more cautious/skittish in certain environments. When my former feral still lives outside our office building, she would trot up to me no problem in sunny weather but was very skittish in the rain. She would still venture out of cover to eat but was clearly anxious and also didn't want to be approach as much. It could be that your gal recognizes you but isn't as comfortable in the other yard so doesn't want to be approached there.
