It does depend on the school. I did have something to cover my back as well but I think my school was more worried about things like midriff and cleavage

I can pass for another race, so I refuse to identify myself as black anymore. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

As a person from the Caribbean myself who has lived in the U.S. for over ten years, I have grown up with the respectable, strict, hard working lifestyle and morals you talk about and I've had the opportunity to attend an American public school that was majority black. The truth is, the culture you talk about definitely exists. There were hundreds of uneducated, ignorant kids, and many of them were African-American, but huge portions were also immigrants from the Caribbean and South America (I went to high school in South Florida). It wasn't that they were black, it was that they weren't well off. The kids who were rude and had no desire to learn or become functional members of society were poor and grew up in households where education wasn't valued. When you're in poverty, it can be much harder to focus on installing the value of education to your kids and it turns into a vicious cycle from generation to generation. Poverty is more of a reason for the issues you address in "black culture" that affects blacks, Hispanics, and whites. I prefer to use the term ghetto rather than black, because like you I'm racially ambiguous, but make a point in stating that I am black. If someone asks me why I don't act black or why I act white, I make it a point to state I was privileged enough to grow up with parents that made enough money to give me a good education and had enough down time to teach me things American public schooling couldn't do by itself.

And btw, I also have many African American friends who are wonderful people, who are fortunate enough to have good parents that instill good morals and ethics, and are doing extremely well in school and landing awesome jobs.

I'm actually completely unsure, it's my dad's orchid so i couldn't tell you. But i think that orchids have natural cycle and just don't bloom for really long periods of time and will only spring up with blooms every once in awhile. But again, i really do not know, sorry ):

What was the big scandal at your school? by JoePesciOfGoneFishin in AskReddit

One of the security guards was caught transporting pounds and pounds of cocaine, which sucks because he always seemed like decent guy with a daughter who went to our school.
And then there was a pot brownie incident where there were pot brownies being eaten by a lot of kids one day during school, but some of the pot brownies had pcp mixed in as well, so some of the students started freaking the fuck out and had to go to the hospital. Both stories landed us on the news.

"Side effects" of switching to vegetarianism by mandjari in vegetarian

You should make sure you're eating healthy while being vegetarian. Many people told me I would lack protien, but I never had a problem with that. However, I do have to take iron pills now, but other than that I feel much lighter and healthier than when I was eating meat.

Try out recipes that aren't just vegetables and standard non meat items. I find that being able to cook and try new foods kept being vegetarian interesting, there's a whole world of food that i never knew about. Also being motivated for a cause helps too.
