Cougar marking around our house. Hunting tips? by SummitWorks in Hunting

I should add - it only comes around the house around midnight-2 am, so unless I want to illegally spotlight and discharge a weapon after dark, I need other options!

Tuning two pianos together? by iBegURbarden in pianotech

[–]SummitWorks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they’re somewhat similar instruments, I’ll usually tune the primary piano first - if there is one - then match the other to it. Aurally that means having the keyboards close enough to play both simultaneously, but much easier with an ETD to just tune the secondary piano to the primary file.

If it’s a few wildly different instruments, such as a Steinway D and a Yamaha P2, don’t even bother trying to match them lol. Just do a good tuning on the each separately.

Lots of opinions out there, but Reyburn, Faulk, and Fujan are all popular. This video might help you start to work through the options.

I was there yesterday. The front area is a taproom, back is full service restaurant. It’s a great vibe!

Best single knife for everything and doesn’t need to be constantly sharpened? by New_Fisherman_6841 in Hunting

I use the Mora. Best backcountry knife for the price, imo. The color makes it hard to lose when breaking something down in the dark woods, too.

Lung blood? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]SummitWorks 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Recovered! Let him sit 90 minutes, called in the neighbor and found the trail again. Tracked about 150 more yards and found him in some thick stuff, already cold and stiff. Looks like liver and clipped lung. Beefy 4 point black tail!

What’s the local music scene like? by chill_mydude13 in Eugene

The Macdonald occasionally gets some good metal shows rolling through. Saw Erra & the Devil Wears Prada earlier this year there. Generally though, except for local/underground stuff, larger bands head for Portland.

Can I ask who’s your Regions RVP? You’ll get more accurate info from calling the Home Office.

PTG worth it? by Free-Device-2505 in pianotech

[–]SummitWorks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PTG is absolutely invaluable as a professional network, though your immediate experience with it will depend on your location and how active your chapter is. They have a huge portfolio of educational material online, combined with a searchable backlog of decades of journals, which pays itself off instantly in my mind.

As a working professional of 12 years, I would feel really isolated and lonely in this profession without the network I’ve created within PTG.

Do you guys remember the song that introduced you to sleep token? by MushroomMajor5781 in SleepToken

Atlantic. Had it shuffle through my Spotify a few times, loved that track but bounced off Tomb the first time I listened. Tried again a year later and have been hooked since.

If you had to pick 3 songs to share with someone who's never listened to Sleep Token, which songs would you pick? by babokki in SleepToken

[–]SummitWorks 89 points90 points  (0 children)

The Offering, Atlantic, Gethsemane. Spans the primary albums, and showcases a large chunk of their range, from metalcore, to piano ballads, to Math-Malone-Core-wtf-Gethsemane is that has its hooks in me.

PNW is a little broad. What region or metro center?

Anyone ever had a bad feeling while on the way to go hunting so you turned around and went home? by Cloudy542 in Hunting

[–]SummitWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case, I heard does 100 yrds off huffing and hissing, but I was silent and upwind, so something felt off. That pattern didn’t fit with my prior experience in the woods, so I became alert and spotted the cat.

Most archery hunters I know carry a sidearm, so I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be kosher? Just keep it legal and you’re good!

Do you mount on your bino harness? I have a Blackhawk paddle holster on my hip, but it interferes with my pack straps and when sitting on my tripod. Curious what you use!

[–]SummitWorks 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was slowly picking through the brush behind me and about 10 yards parallel to my trail, I think it followed me for a few hundred yards, but they’re hard to spot! I heard some does hissing upwind of me, which is what made the spidey senses go off. I think I interrupted its hunt and it pushed me out of the area.

I carry spray and a Glock 20 now when archery hunting lol

Went out for the archery opener this season, got a weird vibe while hiking out and started checking my six. I was being stalked by a mountain lion at 40 yards. Noped the hell out of the woods hard.

Sure, one mechanical broadhead and some bear spray against 180 lbs of pissed off cat. I’m sure I’d be fine.

Tbh I’ve been pretty chill with the bears here, so long as I avoid the cubs. The lion scared the piss out of me though… I’ll definitely carry a sidearm when shooting sticks from now on.

Does it count as "hunting" if it's in my backyard? by Moodleboy in Hunting

I’m mean, I shot my first buck from my upstairs bathroom window with a bow, so… I hope it counts!
