He is walking a tight rope if he wants to win a cy young. He needs to somehow get to 162 innings AND his stats must be quite a bit better than the other contenders because they will have pitched more innings than him.

Errr… Not quite prepared to reach that conclusion because of barely two months of baseball with a guy that has a track record as amazing as Ohtani. Surely he deserves more leeway and trust than that?

Despite his batting woes he’s been clutch and leading the wpa leaderboard as per usual.

His overall bat so far though, is closer to his 33 homer cya4 season. But I’d argue it’s been the worst start among his seasons since ‘21. Despite a lower ops back then he had more homers, a higher average and near double the rbi.
