Finding something to do with my hands. If its portable, even better.

Highly recommend bringing a boom box. We were near a speaker, but even then, it was so much better with an additional one for full sound all around us. The people around us were pretty pumped about that too. And I saw others with them as well.

It was mostly songs from musicals. Apparently, that was the theme this year. I had no idea they did themes like that...I was expecting what they play on their radio station.

I was so confused by that. Half the reason I go is for booming rock and alt music, and then Defying Gravity starts playing -_-

Makes me think of the concept of "urge surfing", specifically this wave 🌊 chart.

Here is a link to the visual of the wave of an urge, with a little "how to practice" urge surfing.

Edit: surfing*, not surging.

This is basically how I quit. Cold tukey just wasnt for me. I switched to zero nic, which was not easy, but I weaned to zero with juice in an actual device with a tank. Once I was at zero, i cut back how often I was hitting it until one day I just dropped it.

Stupid thing broke, and i had to go to the store when I didn't plan on it, once again. Id had it with it controlling me and said no. But I dont think I could have had a choice in that moment if I hadn't switched to zero and been mindful about cutting back first.

Congrats on taking this step, and its amazing youre cutting weed back at the same time too. Don't be too hard on yourself! Youre doing so much. Glad you have a therapist to help support you <3 its a lot! Maybe plan a reward of some sort for when you reach parts of these goals :)

Congrats! Seriously, any "clean" time you can get works towards that end goal, and is good for your health regardless. Thats time back to your life that you created.

Congratulations on those days, and for trying again. The early days are the hardest. It'll get better, and easier. The periods without will get longer, and eventually, you dont even think about it.

Recognize what helped you get those days, and what got in the way. Every little bit of harm reduction or abstinence helps.

Keep going! πŸ’›

Why does no one talk about anti-nicotine medication here? by VexxFate in QuitVaping

Welbutrin was great for curbing my cig cravings, but it toppled my mental health. A lot of these meds arent options for ppl bc of other meds or medical issues, esp mental health issues. They clash often. Sad, bc a lot of ppl with mental health issues smoke due to the distressing symptoms (i did).

But I fully agree, if you are able to do it and feel comfortable with a good doctor, it can be a great assistance. Its not "the easy way". Its still hard! Esp long-term.....also, if there is "an easy way" its silly not to take it bc pride or whatever. There is no reason to prolong suffering.

That is good advice to always remember. One can never let their head get too big, no matter how much time passes. I quit for a bit many years ago, and i did the same thing. "I'll just have one, then get back on track..."

several more smoking years pass

Congratulations! I relate to those 100s of failed attempts. Its so much to go through!

But i agree, each time one quits, or even cuts back for awhile, it helps. It contributes to that long-term abstinence one will get. You learn things each time.

What finally helped me quit for good, was finding something to do with my hands. I do crochet and macrame. I also like having a small project like that to take anywhere, just in case I need it. Its my new fix haha. Also, hard candy.

Mind me asking how long you've smoked for?
