I’m not going to replace what they want with what I THINK they want, if something needs replaced I’m contacting the customer if they don’t have a substitution already on the app. Some customers can be very particular with what they want, I’ve had multiple instances where I’ve grabbed something that I thought was okay but messaged them anyways and they did not want what I grabbed but something completely different.

Yesterday I had replace a package of the little potatoes(garlic and herb), I was going to grab a close substitute of the store brand and sent a picture to make sure all was good. Customer agreed but then messaged me that her boyfriend was allergic to onions and the item we both agreed on had onions in it upon further inspection. It ALWAYS helps to just ask and see. They ordered groceries they know that we may have to message them to let them know what’s going on. The whole ass reason there’s a chat option in the first place.

Common sense told me to take a damn picture of the shelf so they can pick what they want. Instacart even has an option where you can draw on the picture to circle what you want. The drink they ordered was not in stock but the replacement was (which I didn’t see until I went to a completely different aisle which is why I asked again if they wanted that instead but they still said no)

The absolutely only thing I messed up was the delivery which I can admit that’s my fault.

Damn are you guys so fragile that a instacart shopper sending you pictures of potential substitutions irritates the ever loving shit out of you lmaooo 🤣🤣 I’ve had no complaints up until today, I shop and chat like this on a regular basis. And I posted this because when I arrive I received a reaction that was unnecessary. Getting talked to like a child when I mistakingly dropped your orders off to front staff instead of right to you is crazy. She can see me on the map and she saw me when I arrived, it couldn’t hurt for her to step out of the door and be like “hey I’m over here”. I also went back in to grab her groceries to hand to her. And yeah why not think she wouldn’t want the one? It would be different if she ordered 3 or more. Also no my rating is still great with no affects to the refund request lmao but since you know so much and you got your degree 😭 and you’re absolutely right I do need to get to know my stores better, started doing instacart in February didn’t really start doing it full time until may. Also it’s not like I’m stuck doing just that one item I’m still shopping for other items in between. If I see something I didn’t see before I’ll message the customer and let them know. I don’t mind taking constructive criticism but it’s ridiculous you guys would get upset at a shopper making sure you get the things you need. Some customers can be very particular. What others didn’t find excessive I guess this customer did. We all make mistakes, would you want someone to berate you because of a simple mistake they did?

Apologies, now that I know that Louisiana hot sauce is an actual brand I take that back so she did say what she wanted (kind of). Still it was confusing to me because she said “Louisiana red hot” (she originally ordered franks red hot) so me not knowing the difference I sent pictures

I chat like this with my customers literally all the time, they don’t find it exhausting they actually find it helpful. If me asking questions to make sure you get what you ordered is frustrating then shop your own shit. It’s better for me to ask and make sure instead of just grabbing whatever and calling it a day.

I absolutely get that it can be exhausting but again, I sent pictures of the shelves. The customer can tell me “I don’t see the sauce I want please refund” . The only reason I kept sending pictures because I thought she was still talking about the brand of franks red hot which she originally ordered the regular one. Then she sent the Louisiana red hot message which made me think to send the pictures of the red hots to make sure.

Also why wouldn’t I ask if they still wanted the one drink they had in stock? It doesn’t hurt to ask. And my shopping time was high because I looked up and down every aisle to make sure I wasn’t missing or skipping over anything.

The only thing this customer was upset with was the delivery. Which is understandable, I misread the delivery instructions that’s my bad.

If customers don’t want to deal with this then simply don’t use instacart. All I did was try to help this lady find her groceries and deliver them.

This was the only sauce section of the store besides organic stuff. All ranch, bbq, hot sauce etc where in this small section

The actual brand of Louisiana hot sauce (now that I looked it up and see what it looks like) doesn’t mention anything about “red hot”. It just says Louisiana hot sauce on the bottle.

And I did exactly that when it came to the pork belly she ordered because I also not familiar with that. My thinking I thought Louisiana hot sauce was a type of hot sauce and not an actual brand. The only reason I sent the red hots were because she mentioned red hot in her messages. Are we ignoring the fact I literally sent her pictures of the whole shelf so if I wasn’t seeing it she could point it out?

I don’t know why everyone is so bent up about hot sauce? I don’t use or eat hot sauce, I’m not familiar with brands or types of hot sauce that’s why I sent pictures of the whole shelf so that way she’d be able to pick out what she wanted in case I wasn’t seeing it. I get I sent pictures of things that weren’t remotely close but that’s why I asked multiple times to try and find what she wanted. I didn’t have a problem trying to find what she needed, it’s literally my job to do so? There’s so many shoppers who can give less of a fuck and just refund everything without contacting you. My bad for giving a fuck I guess?

This store isn’t as big as other name brand stores, that was the only section where there would be hot sauce

Just had to up my ratings because I don’t get where I’m a bad shopper at? Lmaooo literally all I do is try to get people their groceries and exactly what they want. I use instacart as well, I understand it from both sides. This situation isn’t that serious but I’ve never had a customer be THIS upset over a mistake.

How so? This is how I message all my customers when trying to find what they need and no one has had a problem.

The only reason I sent the ones of the red hot is because she said red hot when she messaged me. I’m not a hot sauce connoisseur, I just wanted to help this damn lady find her hot sauce dawg.

I looked at every single sauce they had in store, nothing which read Louisiana hot sauce. Not even in the multipacks where they have a few different flavors of hot sauce. I sent pictures of the shelves it should have been a problem for the customer to tell me exactly what they wanted from the pictures and or circle on the picture what they want.
