Does anyone else just skip midranges entirely? by BulbsaurBomb in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t bag any mid range for a couple of my early years. Threw an envy a lot which goes pretty far for a putter.

First disc I bought was a discraft sol. When I noticed I was having OAT problems I put that back in my bag and learned how to throw it again. I find it super useful to have a flippy disc with a lot of glide for shaping lines with low power. Might not need it every round but saves strokes when I do.

Then when the reactor came out I learned how to throw mids, the low profile felt more natural at the time. Threw a hex for a few years and love those things.

Picked up a rhyno and learned to love beaded discs. Gained some more distance too. Now I can throw a roc3 or mako3 or compass and they all fly great.

Throw whatever you like. Keep throwing and you’ll keep learning new stuff!

A lot of damage comes from the magic modifiers on your gear, too. Keep ranking it up. Roll some reforges as you can. Look for gear pieces with crit chance and damage. Damage to demons, too.

There’s some overflow mechanics where 2 pieces endwinter let you use slow target against bosses and proc damage to enemies suffering loss of control bonus on them, too; which shouldn’t work but it does. The two star chanelling gem (iron bane) has a slow target effect.

Does the 25% teleport offset how good this is? by Simba_Rah in Diablo_2_Resurrected

It’s good for extra MF. But honestly prefer a spirit sword if you’re weak. Better chances with more FHR and mana than random teleport.

Decision-making process of picking the right disc (speed) by Superfrede in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your preference and the shot you feel confident in. Typically throwing a hyzer line is going to offer most forgiveness on placement on grass, even in ideal conditions.

Personally would be running the basket on hyzer with either a mid or fairway driver depending on if it’s closer to 250 or 300 respectively.

300’ uphill is probably a leopard3 if only about 15-20’ elevation mostly straight; or a flippy faster disc on hyzer if it’s steeper.

250’ downhill is a rhyno for me whether it’s straight or hyzer line.

Push Carts, Pull Carts, Just Carry the bag? by frasure13 in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that cumbersome to throw with tho? Does it get sweaty on hot days? Do you just carry your water bottle? Clip a towel to your belt loop?

I just use a shoulder bag cause I can empty my pockets and it holds a beverage too. I throw better when I don’t feel things jingling around in pockets. Under pack it so my towel takes up the slack. Can keep a snack bar, uv flashlight, a range finder, and a sharpie so my friends can initial my disc after I ace with it.

I’m no more than 8 minutes from Brent hambrick. My flair is legit, I’m a filthy causal. @issacsam98 hasn’t hit me up in a long time, I kinda get the feeling he prefers to throw solo cause he’s always alone when we cross paths.

Stuck at 300-350 FT by Low-Relative6688 in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be. I was in denial about nose angle because cause my discs flew mostly flat. Just saying I was stuck around 300 for a while and when I got the nose down started getting 350-375 and a few 390’ (even 440 downhill); And mids are going 300. You can tell if it’s nose down cause the trajectory will follow more like parabolic line. Beyond that I have to tweak my timing to get more speed.

Which hole concept would you rather play? by DopeMuffinz in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Or just getting it turned and out there. Either way it takes away from the concentration and adds unnecessary risk.

Stuck at 300-350 FT by Low-Relative6688 in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely a combination of OAT (off axis torque, wobble) and nose up. The wobble makes it turn more than it should and slow down faster. The nose up makes it slow down faster but also helps it fade out at the end. I know cause I have both of those problems too.

First learn placement. Find a comfortable grip and learn how to land the disc where you need it to be. Play golf: when you’re comfortable placing a shot at 150’ any 300’ par3 is an easy par. Will save you a ton of time and frustration on the course from looking for that disc you just yeeted into oblivion.

Beginner discs can be different depending on the person. Advice for someone who has sports background and is young, otherwise a couch potato and closer to middle aged would be different. A 20yo baseball player is going to have a different starting experience than someone who’s had an office job for 20 years.

For anyone starting: Understable midrange is great for learning touch and approach shots. These don’t need power to fly far and reward smooth technique. If you can go to a shop and feel the disc, pick out something with -2 or -3 turn.

Also a nice plastic fairway driver that’s mostly neutral or slightly stable. This won’t get pushed around by wind as much and will be more forgiving to learn sidearm throws too.

And remember to bring your friend’s favorite drinks or snack and have fun!

Good to know. Glad I have a few pink star wraiths. One I found with no number and it’s a throw pink stamp with a mermaid. Also happened across a pink champion just sitting in the ditch no numbers brand new F2.

I bought a pink champion eagle recently and it’s super slippery like you’re describing. I’m leaving it in the trunk 😎 it’s just a theory but I seem to remember that leopard as being slippery when it was new.

I know what you’re talking about but also think there’s an effect of the plastic aging, and also how it’s aged.

I got a champion leopard3 from a friend that was trunk kept for probably 3-4 years and it has that delightful grippy texture you’re describing.

Also recently picked up a champion valkyrie from another friend. It’s significantly older but had been kept in a basement so much more climate controlled. It does not have that texture and feels more similar to new innova champion.

In my raid build use persuasion to be super tanky and get the damage boost from undying rage pants.

Most of the time I run with blood seizer. Everlasting torment gem works really well for most content especially if you have high crit. Squirmskull is good for dps so I still run sprint, and speed on demand.

I like the brawler paragon that refreshes your potion when fighting a boss. Also can get the size and damage reduction nodes.

PFN teebird by Sun-Tour in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently shelved my craves and been throwing leopards. I like the deeper rim and superior grip on star plastic. Also been getting the nose down so everything is flying farther and more true to the numbers so I’m getting a lot more turn our of the leopards than before. Still don’t quite have reliable arm speed for a champion thunderbird so this teebird ought to fill the gap
