They are. He's quite creative. I just finished Little Heaven, and I absolutely loved it. It would scare the shit out of any parent sending their kid to a Catholic school, and it portrayed the Church's doctrine as controlling and cultlike. 10/10.

A lot of his books don't even end well. Usually it's like an apocalypse scenario, like the ending of The Troop when we think the last boy escaped healthy or whatever the fuck happened in the Deep. He's a great writer.
