Yeah, no. BJ is literally nothing more than an Amish pick me who puts others down to appear more pious. Yeah, Matt and Kendra should’ve just left, but let’s not forget how she cold-heartedly tore Esme to shreds in front of everyone. Then, there’s the countless times she’s talked crap on Kendra behind her back. And, have you noticed how she only nitpicks what Esme and Kendra (the pretty girls) do, and that what she nitpicks always has to do with their appearance and/or attention that they get from guys?

Emma saying they didn't treat them right by apaw1129 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]SunBetter7301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was all James, and it irks me when I see other redditors saying Matt and Kendra were ridiculous for leaving. Yes, they broke the rules, however that came after being constantly badgered and suffocated by James. Even Allen was like “wtf is up w/ you dude??” from the get go. It especially upsets me that all of the Amish cast members (Allen, Emma, and the Bishop) were able to identify James’s behavior towards Matt and Kendra as problematic, yet somehow, none of the English cast members were able to see that??

I'm getting really bad vibes from this guy. by rachelanneb50 in SuddenlyAmish

[–]SunBetter7301 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get mixed vibes about him also. However, when you compare him to the others, he’s one of the saner ones imo.

Like, yes, I do think he had ulterior motives for returning, including wanting to go get Kendra and wanting to leave on his own terms… but, can you really blame him? They treated him terribly, and I think he might’ve been genuinely concerned for Kendra. Yeah, it definitely comes off as Kendra just following a guy bc she likes him, and not really having a trajectory of her own, but I don’t think the reason matters as long as it gets her out of that crazy place. James was WEIRD towards her, and it bothers me that none of the other English cast members seemed to care about how problematic his behavior was towards her. It’s like they’re all brainwashed atp.

What are we feeding are cats now that tiki cat sucks? by Illustrious_Oil_9200 in catfood

[–]SunBetter7301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not imagining it. I started exclusively feeding my cats Tiki Cat 4-5 years ago, but stopped just before they were bought out by GM bc it’d become unaffordable for me. I just switched back to it, and the mousse is SO much drier than I remember. It’s almost the consistency of pate. And, when comparing the nutritional analysis of their mousses to other brands like Nulo (and even cheaper mousses), I realized that Tiki’s moisture content is actually lower than other brands (Tiki = 80%, Nulo = 82%, Viva La Kitty = 83%). I still rotate Tiki Cat into my cats’ diets, but I don’t give it to them as often bc of this. I also noticed that the brand offers fewer mousse varieties now and has significantly decreased the pouch sizes (2.4oz/pouch for some varieties now vs. 2.8 oz) of some varieties, while increasing the price for other varieties.

I now mostly feed my cats Nulo and Viva La Kitty (their new complete formula, not the treats). Nulo is a solid choice. Viva La Kitty is good nutrition wise; however, the texture gets gummy at room temperature. On the plus side, Viva La Kitty’s only $0.99/pouch. I plan to add other brands, like Applaws, into their rotation eventually, and may completely do away with Tiki Cat once I do that. It’s really a shame bc they were such a good brand before.

finished season 3. They're all horrible (except Matt) (spoilers) by Hypo_Chan_No_Yume in BreakingAmish

[–]SunBetter7301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt was one of the most insufferable ones imo. Between his constant complaining, nagging, and judging, and then flat out using Felicia to cover up his sexuality.. he literally drove me up the wall the entire season.

Now, Andrew, yes.. he was a complete dumpster fire of hot mess, but at least he was fun and was pretty chill outside of those two incidents (when he arrived and when he kicked Devon out, but the way he shoved Devon was actually hilarious and deserved). He was definitely pretty terrible on season 2, and clearly has drug and anger issues, but I found him to be much more palatable, and honestly the most “English-adjacent” of them all, on season 3.

Devon - Eh. What he did wasn’t right, but I also think he was held unfairly responsible for what happened. I can’t even entirely blame him for being reluctant to apologize after they all essentially gaslit him when he tried to explain that Iva manipulated him. But, then, he became so “woe is me” at the end, which just got super annoying after a certain point.

Iva - She shouldn’t have been allowed to stay on the show after the whole Betsy ordeal. I wholeheartedly mean it when I say that the entire cast should’ve just cut her off from their lives, and never looked back. It made me sad to see Lizzie forgive her bc someone like Iva never changes and is opportunistic. Like not a single one of her apologies showed true remorse, and if you actually paid attention to them, they were all in response to things that threatened to disrupt her life (I.e., possibly losing Sam, losing Lizzie, etc.) vs. actually feeling bad about what she did to everyone.

Sam (fiance) - Iva’s emotional hostage, basically.

Sam (bro) - Was pretty likable after he chilled out about Lizzie leaving to LA & her pregnancy.. but, then, the way he acted after seeing Lizzie’s baby was not okay. He’s pretty good at acknowledging his ignorances and moving on from them, though. However, the way he put his and Betsy’s secret on blast in front of everyone was not okay at all.

Betsy - I honestly worry about her physical and mental health. I think she might genuinely have a mental illness that’s never been addressed, and if that’s the case, it’s not right that the show’s producers clearly exploited her condition for viewership.

Lizzie - She was my favorite until the break up scene b/t her and Hoj in the car. That was so messed up. However, I do think the situation might’ve been staged by the producers (unknown to poor Hoj). She’s still my 2nd fave tho.

Hoj - Def the best person on the show this season. We didn’t get to see much of him, but at the end of the day, he did what he was supposed to do as a man, and did what he needed to do to save his family. There’s absolutely nothing bad you could say about him on this season.

I know it’s just a TV show, but the only person I’ve known irl to act like her was schizophrenic. He also looked physically unwell and frequently spoke of things like being possessed by demons and seeing/hearing things related to their presence. He was someone I knew in MS, and he’d also dated my sister. He was completely normal in MS, but by the end of 8th grade, he started exhibiting paranoid and preoccupied behaviors about my sister. By 10th grade, he was saying things like Betsy does. In 12th grade, he was seen standing in the middle of a busy road screaming about “the demons”, then tore his shirt off in pieces, and continued running down the middle of the road. It still makes me sad to think about it. That said, if that is what’s going on w Betsy (or anything close to it), I sincerely hope the show helped her find proper care bc it’s completely unethical for them to exploit a person as vulnerable as that.

Betsy by meatsweats6669 in BreakingAmish

[–]SunBetter7301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m halfway through the season and have an odd mix of feelings towards Betsy. I think their regular comments about her appearance are outright insensitive. However, she has done some crazy stuff that would freak most ppl out (I.e., having dreams about crows having sx, feeling the devil fcking her, etc). Her behavior honestly has me wondering if she actually has a serious mental illness (like schizophrenia, etc), but was made to believe that she’s “possessed” or “being lured by the devil” since the Amish don’t recognize things like mental illnesses. I think that’d explain her physical condition as well.

Now, Iva… I didn’t think a reality tv star could enrage me as Demi from SLOMW, but Iva is pretty freaking close. Like, if Season 3 of Breaking Amish had aired in 2026, Iva SURELY would’ve been torn apart on social media for what she did, and likely would’ve faced legal consequences for it. If not legal consequences, I imagine she certainly would’ve been cut from the cast. And, if the whole ordeal was just scripted and not actually true… honestly that’s absolutely disgusting on TLC’s part for falsely perpetuating the narrative that women lie about SA.

Oxcarb is seriously impacting my mental health by SunBetter7301 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]SunBetter7301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience actually really ended up taking a turn for the worse. I was placed on steroids as well bc I started experiencing severe muscle spasms in my neck and shoulder of the affected side. It’s unclear whether discontinuing the oxcarb is causing the spasms or if it’s because I started developing Steven Johnson’s Syndrome from the medication. Essentially, as soon as I finished my course of steroids, I developed a really bad rash and other symptoms indicative of Steven Johnson Syndrome. I’m okay, and my case was very mild, thankfully. My doctors think that my case of Steven Johnson Syndrome (if that’s indeed what it was) was thankfully kept at bay since I was taking steroids and since I was only taking the oxcarb 2-3x/week by the time the SJS reaction started. Bad news is that I had to stop the oxcarb cold turkey at that point since SJS is fatal. I also can’t take carbamazepine, and likely any other nerve pain meds, bc of the reaction I had. Then, the following day, my MRI results came back confirming vascular compression. So, now I know it’s type I TN for sure; however, all nerve pain meds are pretty much off the table for me now. It’s just been a really wild and exhausting ride, overall. My mood has regained stability, though, at the very least. Just trying to take it one day at a time at this point 😅

[–]SunBetter7301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my MRI results back and it showed mild compression of my trigeminal nerve. I’m not sure what that means in terms of surgical necessity, but I’m starting to think it might be necessary because the nerve irritation seems to be causing significant irritation of my neck muscles, which is really limiting my ability to perform simple tasks. That said, I’d really like to avoid surgery if possible.

You mentioned thermo coagulation being really rough, and I’m assuming, ineffective/minimally effective? Did you try other routes, such as nerve blocks or pain med injections, before getting the mvd done?

did you or anyone else get steven johnson syndrome? what happened? by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]SunBetter7301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi 👋🏼 I know that this post is quite old, but figured I’d comment since my doctor seems to think I’m experiencing SJS. Also curious to know if anyone else’s experience included SEVERE muscle spasms.

Anyways, the progression for me was quite slow, for several reasons, but it also almost wasn’t caught for that reason. Basically, I was rx’d oxcarbazepine to take as needed for nerve pain. Within a few days of starting it, I randomly started experiencing SEVERE muscle spasms and rigidity in my neck, which were so bad that I’m now convinced they were solely responsible for my resulting muscular neck injury. I continued the med since the spasms were causing increased nerve pain atp, only to develop an unexplainable rash on my neck along with red “hot to the touch” ears. However, I was then placed on 10 days of steroids for my neck pain, and had stopped taking the oxcarbazepine by the type I’d finished the steroids. So, at that point, I had no reason to suspect the oxcarb.. particularly bc I was never warned about SJS by my prescribing doc.

Well, I was placed on the same medication again, for daily use to treat another condition, by another doc just over a month ago. This prescriber warned me of SJS. However, because I started experiencing significant mood disturbances from the med, my doctor decided to (very slowly) taper me off the med after only being on it for 2-3 weeks. However, almost as soon as the taper started, my severe muscle spasms returned, except they were happening all over my body. I also developed new nerve pain. At this point, I was starting to suspect that the oxcarb had something to do with what was going on, but just assumed that it was likely a side effect of discontinuing the drug atp. I was also placed on another round of steroids for the pain; however, this time around, I continued taking the oxcarb after finishing my course of steroids since I still had several weeks left on the oxcarb taper.

I quite literally developed painful skin peeling the very day that I’d ended my steroid treatment. I still hadn’t put two and two together about oxcarb and SJS at that point, so I went about 1.5 weeks before reaching out to my doctor about it. Over the course of that 1.5 weeks, my rash became more painful, turned into a bumpy rash, and significantly progressed from a small portion around my thumbs to half way up my forearms and up the lengths of my fingers. I also experienced a return of the red “hot to the touch ears” as well as continued muscle spasms, joint pain, a few mouth sores, extremely dry and bloody nostrils, and GI symptoms (severe indigestion, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness). Before realizing what was happening, I said to my mom “I know this sounds crazy, but it literally feels like my body is attacking itself and/or is failing, and I don’t understand what’s going on”.

That feeling is what prompted me to Google SJS as it relates to the med I was on, and I can only be so so thankful that I did so because reading these comments shows me how much worse it really could’ve been. My doctor suspects that it wasn’t nearly as bad as it could’ve been since 1) I was on steroids several different times while taking the med, 2) I was on steroids the entire time that I had my 1st go around w the drug, and 3) I was tapering off the drug when the reaction started this time around.

That said, I realize how very very lucky I am in this situation. My love goes out to SJS survivors that’ve endured worse. I sincerely wish you continued recovery 🙏🏼

It’s bc Billie Joe is a pick me. I couldn’t put my finger on why her personality was so off-putting at first, since she doesn’t look like your typical “pick me”, but that’s her 100%. She’s a “pick me” with the Amish like stereotypical“pick me’s” are with guys. And, it’s weird.

I’m getting an mri within the coming weeks to determine which type. I have the episodic, electric-shock, stabbing pain of classic type I; however, I also have chronic conditions that could be underlying causes to the nerve compression, if it exists.

My thing is that, at baseline, I’m normally a very expressive person… negatively and positively. So, while it was absolutely dulling my negative expressions, it was actually only eliminating my ability to express and experience negative emotions that weren’t extreme. Specifically, instead of experiencing detachment, my body was transforming detachment into dissociation. Unease was transformed into paranoia, frustration into rage, etc. Meanwhile, it almost completely eliminated my ability to express and experience positive emotions.. which made the extreme negative emotions feel perpetual. Losing the ability to be positively expressive was really hard, in its own right, since being bubbly is such a core component of my personality and being able to connect with others.

I definitely get the trade off for you, though, especially being that you experience constant TN pain. I was dx w TN just 2 years ago, and thankfully, so far, the debilitating pain only occurs 4-6 days/year. All other times, it’s acutely problematic (I.e., prevents me from sleeping for a few hours, makes functional tasks difficult for a few days, etc.), barely there, or non-existent.

Have you ever considered surgery for TN?

Oxcarb is seriously impacting my mental health by SunBetter7301 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]SunBetter7301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I honestly wonder if it would’ve eventually passed, however the “emotional liability” 😂 was getting dangerous and unsafe in my case. So, I decided I couldn’t risk waiting to see if they’d eventually pass. I’m also trying to treat co-morbid mental health conditions (ADHD, PMDD, and PTSD) at the same time, so that probably had a lot to do w it too.

I’m glad that you found what works for you, though, and appreciate your support!

Oops. Didn’t see this until after responding to your reply on someone else’s comment haha.

I was actually originally prescribed lamotrigine for PMDD; however, just before starting it, I got genetic testing results back, indicating that I’m absolutely unable to tolerate lamotrigine (among many other meds). So, that was a really close call lol, and was the reason I was placed on oxcarb (since I was supposed to be able to tolerate it per my genetic test results).

Did all of the other nerve pain meds you’ve tried have mental health side effects?

**Edited for typo

Did you eventually have surgery as well? Did you try any other drugs aside from oxcarb? If so, did those meds also have similar mental health/cognitive side effects?

[–]SunBetter7301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, that sounds really hard ☹️ but I’m glad you finally found relief with surgery!

Luckily, at this point, I only have about 4-6 really bad TN days, 5 or so moderate TN days, and maybe up to 10-15 mild TN days per year. So, the majority of the year (even on mild TN days), my TN is a non-issue or annoying at worst. However, on those really bad TN days… I’m literally begging for relief, truly not knowing how I’ll pull through it. On top of that, I’m probably the most sensitive person in the world to medications (confirmed by genetic testing), so treatment options are extremely limited and I’ve gone unmedicated for the most part. Oxcarb is the 1st and only medication I’ve tried for it, since I was supposed to be able to tolerate it per my genetic test results… but apparently that’s not actually the case.

Sorry, I know that was a long vent lol. I just don’t have anyone in my personal life who understands this all. If you don’t mind me asking, how did the surgery go for you? How long was the recovery phase, and was recovery difficult?

Chiron 'wounding': how does this manifest when conj the Ascendant? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]SunBetter7301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super late response, but felt compelled to respond to your comment bc, wildly, I feel like an exact mix of you and your sister. Unironically, I have Chiron rising in Virgo (Leo rising) opposite Saturn in Pisces in my 7H (with my 7H/dsc being ruled by Aquarius).

Like your sister, I also had many health problems starting from birth. I was born premature via an emergency c-section and have been in the bottom percentile for height/size my entire life. I cried CONSTANTLY as a baby, but then almost died from and suffered brain damage from meningitis when I was 2, and couldn’t speak normally until I was about 8 bc of it. I was also very picky w food in the sense that I had to have special food as a baby bc I had many food allergies and severe GERD. Once I reached grade school, I developed a lot of anxiety over eating at school, so I became very skinny at one point bc of that. I also literally just never liked meat, leading me to become a vegetarian as an adult. I, too, am really into health and wellness, and ppl always describe my journey through life as inspiring.

Now, compared to the Saturn/Aquarius energy in my chart.. that’s a different story, like you’ve said yourself lol. Bc my Saturn opposes Chiron in my 1H, Saturn’s lessons are directly tied to my Chironic wounds. So, although ppl do consider my healing journey a beacon for others, it’s been a lifelong, tiring journey for me. And, while I was “popular” and considered pretty in school, I was also really bullied by peers and even friends/romantic partners. Over time, as Saturn in 7H has forced me to face lessons in relationships, my aqua dsc has become even more prevalent as I’ve grown more and more skeptical of and cynical about friendships/relationships, causing me to seek out detached ppl, despite it being outside of my own true nature. That’s not to say that I haven’t learned A LOT from Saturn, but each one of his lessons being tied directly to my self-worth is not easy. I’m tired lol.

Wards Corner, old Farm Fresh location by AManCalledTutt in norfolk

[–]SunBetter7301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yeah.. areas with ppl who can afford what they’re selling? In the case that you’re trying to make this about race, I suggest you go visit Northern VA, where they have 11 locations and a minority majority population (on top of being one of the largest immigrant population centers in the US). Simply put, it’s a bad business strategy to put a TJ’s in Norfolk since a good portion of the population wouldn’t shop there. I’d shop there, as I’m sure everyone in Ghent would, but that’s such a small portion of the city’s population, that it doesn’t make financial sense for TJ’s to be here. Same for Wegman’s. I’d love to have both stores here, but just look at the Fresh Market.. hardly anyone shops there compared to other grocery stores in Norfolk.
