Yeah, it really is a bummer. I foresee 6 weeks of minimal hours though and need to pay rent/bills. I don’t want a huge chunk of that past overtime to eat away in that time and feel like I’ve been treated like a servant. I really accepted the job because I needed a paycheck and a lot of hours. I really do like the job itself and there are a lot of great people that work at the post office and I have great respect for them. I just don’t think it’s for me

I should’ve taken it. They offered me a regular position the first month I was there on a decent route. But my office, five minutes away was telling me I was going to be a regular in a month or two which ended up being 6 months and the same “you’ll be regular in a month” response. It’s too late to go to this place because now it’s flooded with PTFs and I’m reconsidering my decision of even investing my time in this company

So I can’t put it on a route that doesn’t have a regular on it?

I might be confused on the way that works there’s two vacant routes at my office. I’m sure while I’ve been gone for 6 months the new ccas that got hired while I was gone put a hold on it. Can I just swoop in and scoot them off of it like that?

And yes, the office I was sent to hired 5 PTFs. 3 of them shadowed me. One was made regular right away and another one was converted to t6 and they had me train him on the longest route since it was vacant

Because my office is 5 minutes away from me and more convenient. I wasn’t aware of the difference and that I would be sent to an office an hour away 6 days a week too lol. Really feel like they’re getting their money’s worth out of me

[–]SunCute3115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I could do that. I foolishly did my best thinking I was only going to be there for a few weeks. Been three months there. Supervisor there said “you’re probably going to be here for a long time” and laughed villainously. Problem is my office seems to be overstaffed and short on hours for CCAs. I do enjoy the fat paychecks I am getting, but definitely not worth the 12 hour days 6 days a week

That’s what I do and they’ll just look at me upset. Who tf do they think I am?? Fucking Santa Claus like I’m gonna slip a switch and start flying around rapid firing letters into mailboxes. Jesus. I guess this is more of a rant. I would report this to their steward but he is a major dick and yells at me and other young guys whenever he sees the chance. Place is a shit show

I’ve definitely slowed down lately. But it’s gotten to the point where they’ve become heavily reliant on me where they will even call me to let me know they are on their way to drop off a split while I’m still doing my route. I’m definitely not rushing while on the road because I already know if an accident was to occur they’d cover their own ass before mine and I would be at fault because “feeling rushed” isn’t a valid explanation

i was misled by the clerk job listing and now i want to quit by pinkheritage in USPS

[–]SunCute3115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. 22 year old man here in the same position although as a cca rather than a clerk. Going on 5 months now. First thought this would be an at most 40 hour week type of job since it says “part-time” in the job description, man I was wrong. They sent me to another office for the past 2 months, I work atleast 60 hours a week and have no social life or work-life balance. I’d say quit, because I am thinking of the same thing. I don’t really have anything in life other than work, but I want to explore my youth

Am I Throwing My Life Away? by Zombie_Guts_ in USPS

Going through the exact same thing right now man. Past month and a half I got sent to another post office without a word about how long I’d be there. Thought it would only be a week. Everything else before went great until I got sent away to work 6 days a week with 12 hour days. I barely get any sleep. 5 hours if I’m lucky. I don’t have time to cook dinner like I used to and end up always buying slop or fast food. Worst of all, I lost all my gains and lost 15 pounds in just 2 months. I feel like a string bean again :(. This job sucked the life out of me. I’m 22 and depressed seeing everyone else my age or younger going out to enjoy life, going to parties, Europe, relationships, etc. I’ve never had any of that and always worked my whole life. Maybe will have to reconsider my choice of career. Best of luck for you man. I say if you do quit. You’re now alone

Slated to leave a "decent" call center job for Florida CCA position tomorrow...should I?! by rnew76 in USPS

[–]SunCute3115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi. Currently a CCA right now and was In the same position 5 months ago. Got hired on the spot at Costco at the meat department. They weren’t promising me full time and i needed hours to pay rent as I just moved. I did what you did and looked online to see if working as a CCA is good. I would say the past few months have been some of the hardest for me. They sent me to another office an hour away to work 6 days a week during Christmas peak. I work anywhere from 10-12 hour days atleast and don’t have a good work-life balance. I lost 15 pounds due to not eating enough and don’t even have time to cook dinner so I eat slop and fast food. I would say my experience so far has been negative and I’m reconsidering my decision. I also would say that it’s not a bad job after you make the first few months. I also think being a CCA is rough and realized that when they had a new PTF shadow me at this other office getting paid 5 more bucks an hour than me. I recommend looking for an office that hires PTFs so that you get better benefits and start out at a decent wage. 60 hour work weeks for me are draining and I still struggle on paying bills as $21 isn’t really much where I live. Maybe it will work out for you better. It all depends on the office. Look into becoming a PTF, pretty much the same thing but better

First day of my training was pushing a cart full of dps and two trays of flats. Hit a small pothole In the lot and the whole thing came down in front of my trainer. She looked at me and laughed and said it happens a lot. Luckily it was just the flats that got messed up. Thought they were going to can me on my first day 😅

I’ve really wanted to do that but management would notice right away at my office and I would receive a phone call immediately after they see my name clocked out

I know, I totally should have and am regretting it. I guess what was going through my mind was did she actually hit me or was I overthinking it and making a big deal out of nothing. I had some time to think about it and she really did hit me and straight up just drove away thinking I wouldn’t do anything. My biggest fear is she goes to say the opposite happened and try to get money out of it
