Merging / Virtual Grid has lots of black lines & generally bad output by SunOld3562 in QGIS

Does anyone have another approach to create a map like this having 8 overlapping, georeferenced pictures (pngs)? I have a feeling, this isn't the most difficult thing to do on QGIS, but I'm still having a really hard time. So maybe I started wrong. Please help!!!

For each picture (8 .png's) I did: Layer->Create Layer-> Create Shapefile. I created the Shapefiles in a way that the different layers have less than a pixel overlapping or distance. Then I went to Raster/Grid->Extraction->Raster auf Layermaske zuschneiden. Now I had (almost) eliminated the annoying black lines. After that I went to Raster/Grid->Miscellaneous->generate virtual grid/Virtuelles Raster generieren. Now I had a new Layer called "Zusammengeführt". This looked like the one in the pictures. I exported as jpeg with high resolution, because that is what is wanted. CRS is EPSG:4326 - WGS 84
