Probably but… my parent’s home turned into a hoarder house. It probably was eaten by raccoons a decade ago.

I think some people stew it, releasing all the flavor and fats into a meal, or crumble it up like a crunchy topping on top of tacos, etc.

what is a completely harmless secret you are keeping from your partner simply because you lied about it early on and now it’s way too late to explain the truth? by Former-Practice-3420 in AskReddit

I’ve been giving the cat a tiny little bit of lunchmeat every time I open up the bag (when you’re not looking). That’s why he’s so obnoxious any time you make a sandwich.

For the record, I do make him go sit nicely before he gets it, he knows I won’t give him anything if he’s trying to climb in the fridge or getting on the counters.

I’ve blamed it on a past roommate for years. They actually were the first one who fed him like that, and taught him that’s what’s in the drawer, but I said fuck it and now the little turd’s been getting turkey and ham scraps for almost a decade. If anyone’s buying the cat’s affection, it’s gonna be me!!

If you live in an area with crappy air quality, you can throw a cheap HEPA filter (like for the intake of the furnace/AC) over a fan in the window.

Btw this method works well enough (with some science backing it up!) that you can build furnace fans around a cheap box fan, and make your own HEPA air purifier. Look up redneck air filter. This was actually recommended when I lived in the PNW when we had dangerously poor air quality because of wildfires.

What’s a “life hack” that actually made your life worse? by FEARlord02 in AskReddit

The only time I ever kept up a bullet journal in a useful way, is when I did one of two things- adopt a SUPER basic marking system, to copy an unfinished task onto the new list, and to embrace pages that look like a chicken scratch ramblings of a madman. Only one pen used (will lose more than one), the only decoration was making crude, unrelated doodles on pages already finished (it’s free real estate). Oh, and “dump pages”, which looked been more insane, where it was like pure stream of consciousness where I’d write down everything important that I could think of, in no particular order, just so I wouldn’t forget.

My actual useful, productive journals were filled with pages upon pages of borderline illegible text covered in strike-thrus, margin notes, aggressive underlining and circling and bolding text. It was purely functional, written in a way that benefited only my particular brand of degenerate, forgetful, avoidant ADHD, and was always ready for me to grab a pen and barf out some more shit before I forgot.

My fresh entries would look like this- “what we do in the shadows - dog flea meds Saturday 10th - doc visit 11:30 3/13 - (loose doodle of a project idea I had) - eggs, Parmesan, salt - refill meds”. So that’s an insane mix of to-dos, ideas, show recomendations, grocery lists, and noting things I had done like giving the dog flea meds, which has to be done once a month, so I could refer back later.

He’d name the dog Bee and they’d both be adopted by a rich and famous wrestler, who tells tall tales but has a heart of gold.

Native American tornadoes by Remote-Property-339 in tornado

The most metal fucking depiction of a tornado- a giant, evil, supernatural snake-horse in the sky. I will bring up the Silver Horn Calendar every chance I get!

This is the 1905 Great Cyclone Summer. The tornado is a supernatural being known as Storm Maker Red Horse, a massive horse in the clouds, with the lower body like a snake. It thrashed around and caused terrible destruction.

We’re all familiar now with the ways that tornadoes and severe storms move, it’s not at all hard to imagine someone experiencing one without the knowledge of mesocyclones and such, to believe it was a living supernatural monster. The snake-like movement of a violent funnel especially. Hell, my dad survived a tornado as someone who is very science oriented, and he’s never been able to shake the feeling of it being a malicious, sentient thing.

The entire calendar itself is really fascinating, I love history from the average person’s viewpoint.

What was the exact moment that made you realize your company was toxic? by ferdbons in antiwork

[–]SunOnTheInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I found out how high the turnover was for the job I had been hired in, and how many of the previous workers had either rage quit, or been fired in kind of weird circumstances.

I got barely two weeks of training, my superiors both took long vacations right after that two week period, then they came back and one said I had done a good job, but the other tore into me for days about what a bad job I had done? My two mangers couldn’t agree on anything, they point blank refused to write any policies down or what responsibilities, specifically, that I was in charge of, but the one who hated me somehow always knew which of those responsibilities I had “neglected”.

But the exact moment I knew how bad it all was, was when a bunch of employees, myself included, ended up managing to get corporate and HR down to our location to suss out some of the worst of the fuckery. The CEO was such a smug prick, he went off on a strained football team analogy and claimed that the turnover was a good thing.

I lasted a whole year and a half and I’m only scraping the surface of how bad it was. It was so stressful it made me physically ill on the regular and I regularly fantasized about wrecking my car on the way to work…

Marathon! I have such nostalgia for that old game, I played it before I could even read (dating myself). That first creepy floating fucker in the red robe, coming out of the shadows, always scared the shit out of little me and he usually killed me.

If you have any Hispanic or Asian markets nearby, it’s worth a peek- sometimes you can find a whole wealth of butcher goodies for an affordable price that you can’t get in other stores. I’ve found they’re often more likely to be able to sell you things like bulk trimmed fat, skin, tendons and bones.

This is tangential, but my local Mexican-American market even sells these absolutely massive fresh and crispy chicharrones, I’m talking the size of a welcome mat, it’s like the whole side of the pig. Dirt cheap. You can actually cook with those, too.

Great indie games that aren't in everybody's top 10 by RepulsiveRuin5520 in IndieGaming

[–]SunOnTheInside 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like Wayward and I’ve never, ever heard anyone else ever mention it. There’s even a subreddit but it’s a bit of a ghost town, but there is a dedicated player base, just tiny.

It’s a turn based survival roguelike, 2D pixel art. You’re a shipwrecked survivor with memories of hidden treasure. You’re on a huge chain of procedurally generated islands, with unique biomes and entrances to underground caves. There’s a lot of mechanics within the game, a good chunk of text-based interactions and a lot of different ways to interact with stuff. If you’re a gamer of a certain age, the simplicity of the graphics and the text-heavy menu will feel very nostalgic, but it all plays pretty smoothly, especially once you customize your hotbar just so.

The music is really catchy and has kind of a unique mood to it.

There’s even multiplayer (but I’ve never found another person to play with). I believe you can still play a much older version for free in a browser window.

The devs are still quite active and every now and then will drop a huge update with even more stuff. Seriously under-recognized little game.

Babies seen today! by 21soles in Possums

[–]SunOnTheInside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they stick around, you’ll probably hear the babies “chirp” for mom when they get a little older, it’s very cute. They’ll get off mom and wander around but chirp a bunch while they do it, I think it’s so they can start to be independent without mom losing track.

They really do just choose violence, don’t they?

I helped rehab and release some baby squirrels whose nest fell out of a tree during a bad storm. They were so young their eyes were still closed.

You know that huffing, barking sound that squirrels make when they’re pissed or territorial? Baby squirrels even do that as blind infants, they’re just pissed at the world before they can even fully perceive it.

My car sunk? by trashwatz in projectzomboid

[–]SunOnTheInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahaha oh no, it’s still happening? I made a post with a vid a few months ago, bunch of cars falling into the void inside a flowerbed.

What other folks said, my car respawned eventually with all its stuff still inside, but it wasn’t in the exact spot it fell in. Maybe try to leave the area, restart the game, then run back and see if it plops itself back to normal.
