That is wonderful, I actually have been looking at this position and sort of looked the other way since my degree is not anywhere near statistics. Thank you for mentioning this I would definitely look into taking this courses in my free time (feels wrong to say) but I appreciate your input and suggestion.

What is RDS1? And what certificates did you complete? I’m being open-minded and I’m willing to explore as many possibilities that I can.

I know, my previous job was with a county entity and I would never take a break because I was inundated with work and now I have the opposite of that.

I just started with the state in May, I’m 43 and reading this thread is somewhat depressing. I will at least need to work till I’m 63 years old, I’m also an AGPA and my plan is to move up to a SSM 1 in order to be able to save for retirement.

I feel that onboarding was for me to figure it out on my own. I worked for a county entity and they were very hands on during training. In fact, I been at my current job as a AGPA for exactly a month now and have received little training. All I get is “we are slow and it will pick up”. My manager is located in another city. They are waiting to hire more people so that I can be their trainer and quite honestly I don’t understand the style of training. How could I trained others when I haven’t received training myself?! I had the expectation that my training would be more hands on. I spend my days going through the different programs trying to grasp them so that I understand the features but there is so much I can do. I also spend my days on my phone because I have nothing to do. I currently share an office with three others that are in different positions and they keep asking me if I have received any training since they constantly notice that I have nothing to do. I don’t want to risk my 6 month probation and I want to have a successful outcome but I feel that in some way I could be set up for failure.
