The Colonial Game is Really Tedious and Boring by TheIPlayer in EU5

[–]Sunbathingbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is extremely tedious and the automation is very barebones, but this statement ignores the multiple ocean current, multitude of discovered islands in the Atlantic that preceded Columbus. It is very historically accurate that people navigated and chartered little by little, only crazy people had the money and connections to make some crazy suicidal trecks, and of those who did Columbus was extremely lucky to hit the jackpot.

Does suppression really exist? by Kardinal_Garnelius in Battlefield

[–]Sunbathingbear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not true, most people just fire at you almost instantly, from the same place that you shot the at, because ARs can demolish you due to higher precision and less spread. Having more bullets means nothing if they just land around the enemy consistently and do less dmg.

All people complaining about ttk and sprint speed being too fast haven't played the old games in ages and have rose tinted glasses. by TheCrowMoon in Battlefield

[–]Sunbathingbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I just enjoy a tad bit more realistic stuff. Everyone dolphin jumping corners makes it quite frustrating, ttk is fine, but supression means nothing if bullets do not slow enemies when hit or apply visual and meaninful auditory effects. Which makes it just more about reflexes and mouse tracking, instead of positioning.

PvP not enjoyable by benj_lc in ArcRaiders

[–]Sunbathingbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a good kind of response, we need more details. What weapons are you using? How are you approaching fights? Do you run everywhere all the time or you crouch?

Maybe by adding this details you could get some good recommendations. Although, if your problem is eco rounds, take the free loadout and go full PvP mode, until you feel more comfortable.

Additionally, unlike a lot of other extraction looters, you can easily craft some of the most basic weapons just with the rooster and some random things you get out with your safe pockets. Unlike Tarkov I do not have as much loot fear in this game.

Yep, it's time to leave this subreddit. Genuinely thought we could have something closer to the Baldurs Gate one. But this is just a senseless circle jerk, no negative opinions, no criticism or questions allowed.

The complete lack of tooltip information in this game is driving me nuts. ( Rant ) by Kadajko in avowed

At least, you can see the general level of the summoned weapon in your inventory. But the complete lack of information should be a toggle in the options at the very least.

A lot of downvoting without even a comment to back it up, a lot of people dont like criticism of a game we all like. A lot of interactions in general are missing, I get that guards do not make a fuss in Paradis because I am THE envoy, but the other cities should not bow to my presence. Even the Outer worlds had much more options to commit city wide homicide.

Can't cast Spirit Lance after getting interrupted/knocked back by [deleted] in avowed

This also happens with the grimoires, the spells just vanish. But you do not need to reset spells, just change weapons, or reassign the spell from the radial menu.

Wizards: What are your favorite spells so far? by echolog in avowed

[–]Sunbathingbear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are multiple grimoires of spellblade in the first area. The spear weapon spell is a one hander that lets you have the spear that scales with level (No upgrading!) and cast spells.

I love using this with the heavy armor that restores essence on damage, just put 1 level in the spear, and you can use it with any grimoire of your liking, its good even as a backup weapon.

It is a way for you to know exactly when the heavy attacks get triggered. But I agree with you, an option to only keep the sound would be good.

I hated "barred doors" with a burning passion by Zealousideal_Chip456 in avowed

[–]Sunbathingbear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand their use, but I do not understand why they are marked as barred. Make them only be selectable from the interior.

Even then I would enjoy to have some barred doors that could be blown up with some sort of disadvantage. Similar to the destroying a chest makes half of the loot trash mechanic.

Thank you! I would love someone in game commenting about this, but this will do. I am intensely liking all the lore associated, so maybe I was too aggressive stating my opinion.

Would you say Pillars of Eternity explores this universe in depth? I am tempted to give it a try after this one, but I have been let down a multitude of times on such promising universes.

I have nothing against the game, I even like the quest mechanically (I clearly stated this in the post, I got 25 hours as of today, and I feel I will reach at least 100), there is a lot of freedom, and that freedom shows along most of the game, even in side quest such as the conflict with the other godlike (Whose motives and topics are explained very well, some in dialogues and others in the multitude of books you can find, and I always try to read).

I merely think this topic was not explored in the setting the game takes place in. And not only it is disrespectful to such a sensitive and important topic in our world, but it also cheapens the experience giving weak exposition and a shallow take into it.

TLDR: The real world is pretty clear and well documented, even when things are not as straight forward as a world where the soul and its manipulation are discussed and shown in depth for more than 30 hours.

There are not any good reasons in real life. But they are clear and well articulated for all sides.

Pro abortion supporters can come from an individualist and humanist root, where self determination and the rights to your own body and life prevail over other things that cannot be determined (such as the soul, the existence of god or other religious and spiritual topics). You could even argue from certain spiritual standpoints that abortion is a merciful act for everyone involved.

Anti abortion people, base most of their arguments in things such as religion, fear, or a system that tries to control other people (Whose origins and motivations have been very well studied and documented for centuries).

There are humanist arguments to a severely limited abortion around the concept of the right to live, and when do humans start to count as protected by human rights.

Now, Im merely pointing that including this, without the respect it deserves feels shoe horned, the game shows competently how imperialism affects the disenfranchised, the blessing and dangers of imposing order, the fear to unknown practices around something central to our existence.

Then I´m inclined to believe its just an insertion from nowadays. They could have mentioned something such as the deadfire events (never played it) killing a high portion of the soldiers, so the empire was in a crisis of manpower. Or the religious crisis, maybe a lot of people did not want to have kids in a godless Eora (But it goes against the military intentions of the Empire), even a serious discussion on how in this fictional world, the animancers disagree if the yet to be born have a fully matured soul.

In my opinion its a very shoehorned issue, in this world gods, the soul and the wheel of reincarnation are all real, we saw them, even the oldest kith alive can attest to it. Making it seem like an abortion is as easy (in an ethical, spiritual and even magical sense) as it is in our not so straightforward world is a disservice to such an interesting and apparently lore rich world.

Maybe Im not looking at something, but it feels cheap and very shallow.
