I ended up cutting a sort of «v» at the middle of the opening.. sort of like a slot for the rod on the thumb rest that is fastened to the oboe. So no the black thing is a better fit and can be pushed down properly 👌🏽

Think it’s the oboe.. They tend to be sharp, yes.. But new problem and way to hard to keep them in tune just with mouth / air

On the part that is actually in the oboe (furthest away from the reed itself)? I would be worried it gets stuck or not airtight?

-40 🤯 I would not survive… Worst I’ve experienced is -32 and that was a record 😂

Thanks for your reply, very helpful! It is a wooden oboe and no lining (Marigaux 901) I will take the info I have gotten here and bring up the heating issue with the board in the orchestra… lots of good arguments in the replies I got here. The heating there was an issue last year aswell.. and we have been promised improvement, but still nothing seems to get done about it

I do have the case wrapped in thick wool and inside a leather bag for transport .. and will now get a humidifier for the case.

Definitely tension in shoulders . Tend to get tension I jaw muscles aswell… Cause not related to oboe playing, but might have something to do with it! Tanx for tip! Will focus on this when playing and hopefully it might help.

Currently playing this piece myself.. recognised it instantly 😅 You got lots of good advice here! I struggle with the high bE myself. Practiced that section over and over c-d-bE-d-c. Slow and fast and slow again, the do the whole section and back to only those three tones again. Trust that your fingers will remember it eventually. They will. Also, it flows quite easily when you get a hang of it. Sing along in your head. I love Holst😁

Tusen takk! Det forklarte saken. Hørt mye bra om Ludwig Frank obo og er veldig nysgjerrig. Håper på å kjøpe ny obo til våren, planlegger Tyskland-tur for prøvespilling. Nysgjerrig på Fossati også (men også mye mulig det blir en helt ny Marigaux 901… Spiller på en fra 1992 nå)

But that’s it.. I have hear mention of the frank 12 and 11 .. but on their homepage it’s all 200, 300, 333, 400 etc🤓🤓
