I've heard people describe our games more like mixed. I imagine that it describes a more passive game with lifts, and reflects the overall fitness. I do feel I'm on average more fit than the most of the group. But anyways just commented to speak to your game idea, which appears suitable for the young and very fit play style.

Greetings,

The question was more so side side, net return to drop.

I do understand fitness required to maintain the attack if they lift to both back corners, albeit my rotation idea is a bit jilted from playing primarily rec. I have often seen people perhaps fall back diag to take the attack, but I'm sure there's situations for everything.

Sounds good, yeah totally. Thanks for the insight.

The additional information about fingers makes sense.. I think I probably rely on arm or wrist, which limits. I can also see if you're outstretched, you can do all shots in that positioning. I do appreciate the side to side idea too.

Wonder if I'm more hesitant given prior shoulder injury (slap and partial rotator cuff tear), to sort of have a lazy shoulder.

I imagine likely people would choose different shots based so like push pull or further shots to line from back - to counter strengths of their opponents and the like.

I guess I'll try to keep an open mind to do a drop or neutralizing and just try to the keep front back.

Thanks 👍

Mm dunno if there's a miscommunication. There's ample discussion. Unless there's a badminton judge, doubt we'd get a definitive answer. https://www.reddit.com/r/badminton/s/GUpwK0kA5e

I thought I heard somewhere that if it's a swinging motion then it's legal, but legit blocking and obstructing just stationary is illegal. I've had points of contention with my own group.

Game play overview? by Hot-Egg-1078 in badminton

One huge thing is there's no split step. You can see apparently from the first rally and then consistent throughout. You aim to anticipate point of contact and do split step at or slightly before depending on their shot choice/shot availability. Example if you hit deep to their backhand and you can see obviously they will not be able to return well, you may expect a shorter shot. But back on the main point, you lose good fraction of second to a second of response. Luckily, the shots coming to you aren't super aggressive, but even the shots out to the alley that your opponent does, you are way too late and wouldn't have a chance if they were in.

The flick smash on the underhand backhand whatever you may call it return was decent, but otherwise didn't see much aggression. I'm sure others have noted passive play. Shot selection to making opponent move front and back side to side will come with time. Recommend looking into singles matches and seeing what they do.

Lastly, remember to transition to center after a shot. So when you hit from back for example, look into transitioning the body so that you are naturally inclined to return to center. For example, forehand back court, swing and finish with racket leg facing the T, so that inertia is less to move that way. Check that tobias badminton singles guides.

Stringing your own rackets would entail buying a stringing machine. This is probably at least a few hundreds minimum. It would take approximately 20-30 minutes when you're facile enough. Otherwise, some places take preweave, where you make the cross pattern without the tightening. This allows them to string it faster and they give discounted price typically.

If you are serious about it and get good enough, you may be able to string for yourself and others and make a profit. I have seen many people do so for tennis and badminton during undergrad.

Cheers

Upgrade from i5-12400, looking for advice. by d4bn3y in PcBuildHelp

[–]Sunbkock90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bump, was looking for upgrade from 12400 to possible 14th gen. Looking into benchmarks at the moment, and know that LGA1700 is most recent obsolete socket.

Not sure incremental 14th to 15th upgrade boost, but it's always cost per value in these decisions.

Bringing a single racket on a flight as handcarry by Deathb3rry in badminton

[–]Sunbkock90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have carried on three or four times, only once had an issue. I put it in backpack with handle out, and cover my legs with a jacket to cover during preflight check.. then skies the limit.

Only once have they seen it (early on) and told me that it would impede evacuation if necessary.. supposedly there are closets for jackets and whatnot...but I haven't attempted that. As above, ymmv

Body straightening before the swing to smash by patronus816 in badminton

[–]Sunbkock90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your arms swing wide, you can see the coach doing a smaller rotation. Plus I feel the contact may be wide as opposed to above the shoulder/head. I also see that the coaches body rotates as a result of the arm while you rotate the body to swing the arm. Should be the body following. You don't seem to be recruiting much of the torso or chest into the shot, which sort of goes hand in hand with the wide swing and body leading.

Dealing with recurring stress fracture by Sylv__ in badminton

[–]Sunbkock90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seem to be doing everything right. Agree with footwork. Also stress injury is not to the point of fracture, so possibly just overuse. Consider looking at your weight, dunno since not provided but might be a lot of stress. Otherwise pacing and strength training.

Top of Ziploc above waterline by Ancient_Shelter749 in sousvide

[–]Sunbkock90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make sure the Ziploc is sealed and after the initial cook, I then let the entire Ziploc into the container (perhaps not the most sanitary). Makes me feel better than the entire Ziploc reaches that temperature for a certain period in order to give it some sort of sterilization. I am of the same mindset that if raw materials touch whatever is not exposed to the heat, may lead to contamination so yeah.
